ya yamaha is ubsessed with the raptor plastic. there is just way toooo much of it now. the shee and the yfz are the only ones letf withput rappy plastic and even you can get rappy plastic for a shee :shootself: its just getting to be tooo much like 4 diff kinds of raptards. they should start designing on some new plastic

banshee's will never retire unless all the 2 stroke maniacs out there turn over to 4 pokes, which i doubt. even officials are trying to get rid of them, you see GNCC did. i personally dont think the 700 could hang with a shee, its too slow. but then again it all depends on the rider. we will just have to wait and see wont we?

add 26 cc to your banshee and let me know if you feel a diffrence? besides theyve just made this to compete with the ds650. ;)

yuppers 26cc can make a big diff. think about a stock stroke compared to a +4mm stroker.

Stock vs. stock.Sure it might beat a banshee.Say some guy is on his new raptor and is so cocky he decides to race one of the big drag banshees. You know, the near 700 cc. banshees. The raptor owner better hope he doesn't get behind the banshee's roost. Here comes the pain.

The new Raptor is great, it has pretty much the same suspension travel as the YFZ. It also has a lower seat height. I'm sure it could take a stock banshee but as the saying always goes, "throw some pipes on er and she'll kick that raptors ass." or something along those terms. I wouldn't mind having one if i didnt race motocross, looks like they would be great trail machines.

I think they shaved two pounds off, added 26cc (which is close to what the LRD kit adds) beefed up the suspension, changed the a-arm bend, lowered the seat height and added fuel injection. Pretty impressive list of changes. Even with all of that though, I do not think it will beat a banshee with standard mods. Spend 7K on a raptor and beat a couple stock shee's or go drop 4500 on a used shee with some mods and on any given day beat most of your competitors.

I will say this though, Yamaha knows what they are doing. That bike does look mean and the updates on paper seem very impressive. I like the rest of you are looking forward to seeing one on the dunes, woods and at the track.

my buddies raptor is 75-80 hp on stock suspension. It's an 01 and the tranny went....so when he had it apart he put in a piston, stage 3 cam, really worked valves, etc etc.

The thing is still on stock suspension and its very very very scary to ride. At least yamaha decided to do something about that.

not saying b.s or anything ,but i highly doubt your friends raptor is making those numbers unless its on nitrous and booze too. even a highly modded raptor has trouble getting over 60 rwhp on a dyno. they ca n be made to rip though and the 727 worked over rappys can give a flattrack she a real run for its money.
