FoxBansheeRacing
Well after all the help and info I got on the motorcycle license, my parents decided to change their mind about letting me get a bike. So now I'm back to looking at cars, and since I got such good response here last time, I'll ask again. Right now I am driving a 98 camaro (V6) that I am selling to get a v8. I am pretty well decided on a 5.0 because any z28's in my price range are over 100k miles. I have found a couple on a Mustang forum that I am seriously considering, and need some help deciding which car would be best. The first is an 88 GT with 15k on the new motor. Mods- 347 cubic inch stroker motor, forged crank, and h beam rods, and forged pistons, built for a supercharger...eagle rotating assembly. Ported Cobra heads Ford Racing X303 cam, also comes with a e303 cam Ford Racing headers, high flow hpip with converters Edelbrock performer intake manifold 24lb/hr injectors/adjustable fuel pressure regulator 75mm throttle body granitelli mass air meter Lakewood shocks on front and rear Centerforce clutch, also comes with brand new Ford racing performance parts kind cobra clutch still in box Pro 5.0 short throw shifter MSD 6 ignition, msd distributor, and msd coil Auto meter monster tach with shift light, autometer oil pressure, water temp, and egt gauge. Two 12 inch rockford fosgate subwoofers, alpine head unit, and bostin acustik speakers. Car is built for a supercharger, has never had one installed. Car is good for low 13's to high 12 second timeslips in the 1/4 mile and could make around 600hp with a supercharger. The other is a 90 GT. Mods- 9lb Powerdyne Supercharger with powerpipe, Aluminum X302 heads, 1:7 roller rockers, C&M 73MM mass air, 70mm BBK throttle body, GT-40 upper and lower intake, Motorsport stainless shorty headers, 2.5" offroad H-pipe, 2.5" Dynomax superturbo cat-back, 3:73 gears, Walbro 255 lph fuel pump, Pro 5.0 shifter,3-core radiator, billet accessories on interior, white guages including boost and fuel pressure. All wireing has been hidden in the engine bay. I like everything about the 88 except that the motor was built for a supercharger, and I will have no intentions (or the money) to put one on it. The other thing is that it doesnt say anything about the rear end, so I'm guessing its stock? The 90 is located over 500 miles away from me, and the 88 is under 150 miles away. I have pictures of the 90, and it looks like a nice, clean car. I dont have pictures of the other but it says in the ad it is in great shape and that it was a daily driver. And finally, the 90 is $400 more than the 88. Sorry about the long post, just want to make sure I dont make the wrong decision. I will be using this car as my daily driver (50+ miles a day) and will most likely take it to a local strip a few times. What car will be making more power, better gas mileage, and overall what car should I be considering? Thanks.

mybadbanshee
guy ,you dont want a car that already has a lot of mods done to it,first of all if somebody is putting a lot of money in a 5.0 it usually means they are beating the shit out of it.im not saying its like that everyware but around here if someone has a nice 5.0 its pounded.try and find an old grocery getter 5.0 with nothing done to it.itll last longer and you can do what you want to do with it, not what someone else wants to do with it.take this advice from a former 5.slow owner and start with a virgin if you can.dont rush into anything!!! jmoore
Buy a 5.0 and watch all your z28's you wish you had fly by! Ok I may be a little partial to the z28. I would stick with the good advice you got here and do not buy anything with alot of mods. And I would look for an older LX model with the 5.0. They should be cheaper but maybe a little harder to find. They were also lighter than the GT I think off the floor and quicker. Hold out till you find a good one... dogboystoy
Dude, I know you want something fast and fun. But be honest, I am sure you are like the rest of us when we were younger, but get something that will get you where you want to go, in style. Most women will dig a nice ride compared to a fast ride (of course the ones that want the fast ride are the ones you gotta watch out for). But, honestly, you will kill yourself financially getting the fast ride you are seeking, not to mention killing yourself literally. Look at it this way. 1. Cops will pull you over more often with a fast ride (camaro, Mustang, etc). Get a comfortable ride with a few miles (60K or so more if necessary), thats got a few bells and whistles, you can cram in more buddies, and hopefully more women, and the cops wont be looking to pull you over. Your parents will think you are being a respectable young man, and you can drive buzzed without as much worry. Cops arent looking for a sedan with a 17 yearold in it, there looking for the ones that look like trouble. You can be trouble, just dont look like you are looking for it. And Another thing, I spent a bunch of money on a used camaro Z28 400 , that neede fixxing up, I dumped 2Grand into it and found out I didnt look it over well enough (there is always the possibility you will miss something), Rebuilt the engine (had to), tranny and some other things, turns out the frame was rotted in a spot i couldnt see easily, and could have killed me and anyone else it it. So I sold it for 100$, and cut my losses. You will have more financial heartache with a fast ride (gas alone), I would advise to live smarter, and have a few extra bucks in your pocket to spend on the ladies, and get some tang. You wont regret it DOGBOY
