fernando427
This is the closest place to my house that does engine work. They told me they could set me up with a 400 stroker making around 70 hp using stock carbs. Is this true? My next alternative would be trinity racing. Any body know anyother builders in south cali. I want a reliable motor for riding in the dunes and fast trail riding up in el mirage dry lakebed. I want to be able to smoke 450's Any input would be appreciated. locogato11283
i knowthat CT does a lot of stuff on 250r's but i dont know about banshees. personally i wouldnt base your decision on who is closest to you and i certainly wouldnt send anything to trinity. do a search on "trinity" here and see what people have to say about them. there are much better builders than the 2 you have mentioned. you would just have to send your cylinders out.. fernando427
Thanks for the info, But is there Any good shops in south california or am I going to have to ship my stuff out to avoid headaches?
dajogejr
Pick up a copy of ATV Action, or dirtwheels, etc., Look in the back section. Honestly...there's probably a dozen places in SoCal that do work for shees. With year round riding, Glamis sand dunes, etc., out there in your neck of the woods, I'm sure you can find plenty of good, reputable engine builders. Ask to talk to them, stop by...talk to a few of their customers....
spurdy
Just my 2 cents. It is not worth it to go with someone close just because they are close. Shipping is not that much when all is considered. Don't rush into getting porting down without researching the builder. I sent my jugs from Kansas City to Trinity without checking into them enough and was very disappointed in performance and customer service. I followed everything they said to do along with about $4000 to have a bike that was a turd. It has taken almost 2 years and another $1500 to be happy with her. Just be thorough and don't rush into anything, you usually can't undo a bad port job. I hear very good things about Passion Racing and I think they are are of Tulsa, OK., I think the guys name is Jim. Good luck.
dajogejr
Eric Gorr does very good work, as does Jeff @ F.A.S.T. Racing. DO a search on these boards for more ideas and opinions. Spending a 100 or so on shipping is nothing for your satisfaction and a job well done!! I can say CT did great work back in the day on the 250R. Mark Earhardt was their flagship rider for a long time...and he flat out flew. Then again, Mark had enough talent, he could've won races on a radio flyer wagon on holeshots... rocketboy
id contact Passion,A&S, f.a.s.t.,or southern style for a dune/drag port getting a stock stroke 347cc she to break 70rear wheel hp with just a port job , pipes and basic addons requires alot skill and know how ,the companys above can do that for you ,most however cant without alky .dont sent shit to TRINITY or CT,LRD,DUNCAN,our any other big name conglomerate IMO being afraid to send your cylinders out to pay 15$ in shipping makes no sense at all, is it worth 10 horsepower to you to have the luxary of a local hack shop grind up your shit get your jugs to you quicker? all these shops have a 5 week turnaround so just be patient, send your jugs OUT and youll be rewarded with a fast machine Edited May 30, 2005 by rocketboy
