Jdawg82
JDawg, what elevation are you at, where are you man?? 373323 I am at leicester ma. Elevation of 1009 feet above sea level. I will popping in the 270 jets momentarily. Again thanks for all your help guys I appreciate it Edited May 24, 2005 by Jdawg82
Jdawg82
I just put in the 270 jets and the bike runs better but its still not rideable. It bogs and acts like the plugs are fouled. It revs slowly and seems like it is missing about 4000 rpms up top. I do not want to jet down any more sizes because I was pulling 290 jets no problem before the cylinders. What else can I check? race-a-holic
I don't think it's your main jet.Are you sure you don't have a fouled plug? The TORS will cause havok on a banshee. It will start all day long, get on the throttle and it will bog.But I doubt you'll ever get any where near topend if they mess up.Make sure you're getting fire to both plugs. These might not be your problem, just something to check.Who is suppose to have done the porting on the cylinders? I checked both plugs and they are getting spark. A local engine builder did my porting. I am thinking that maybe I am getting too weak of a spark. Why would this happen after changing only the cylinders and crank is beyond me. Quad ran great before the cylinders. Another thing I am thinking of is if the top and bottom cases are sealed correctly. I used yamahabond and have a very slow leak coming from one of the studs that hold the cases together. Could transmission oil getting into the crank section of the case cause this to happen?
Big Blue
You should go ahead and put fresh plugs in anyway there cheap, save the ones you pull out and try using them later if you need to.
Justintoxicated
I hope your not running a foam filter with teh airbox lid on...........
race-a-holic
Just asking to make sure, when you installed the new cylinders did you use new pistons and rings?Do a compression test just to eliminate that as one possible problem.Let me know how much it has.I'm not sure on the transmission oil question. The next step is to do a compression test I am going to go out today and buy a compression tester. I am running a foam filter but I have the lid removed on the stock air box. rzcolobanshee
Do you have the ebrake wires disconnected? this has caused the exact symptoms on many bikes I've worked on
DCBLACK
A friend of mine just had a similar prob with his banshee after he freshened up the top end and I went to help him we pulled his jugs back off and his pistons were in backward so you could check that also. That and a compression test will tell you a lot.

I don't know how it'd run at all tho backwards, let alone with a 270, but it would be something to check. You could pull the carbs and look in the ports to verify w/o pulling the head and cylinders. Jdawg82
Ok I pulled the carbs and got a pic of the port although I dont know if it will help you guys. The pistons were in the right way. I already have the tors removed. Would the bike run at all if the degree key fell out of the crank? Anyway compression test is next on the list then I am going to throw a match in the gas tank and walk away lol.
rzcolobanshee
No it wouldn't run. EBRAKE WIRES?? ARE THEY DISCONNECTED??
Jdawg82
No it wouldn't run. EBRAKE WIRES?? ARE THEY DISCONNECTED?? 373865 What are the ebrake wires? I dont believe I ever had them hooked up. I was fairly sure it was part of the tors system which I removed. The bike did run before it threw a rod.
