ok gimme just a second to deal with that delicious visual (thank you for that)

ok, anyways, i totally see your point, but the reason for the stiff fines is to try and prevent people from doing it in the first place. if they didnt have big consequences, people wouldnt care enough to follow the rules and avoid the reprocussions. dont get me wrong, it sucks ass, but thats kinda the point.

i've noticed that oklahoma and missouri are especially strict on this law...last time my uncle left the dunes he got pulled over for no seat belt and got a ticket....but my cousin who was in the passengers seat didnt have his on...and didnt get a ticket or have anything mentioned to him...

i think a lot of time it gives officers probable cause to pull somebody over in hopes that they can find drugs, a possible drunk driver or even people who are suspended or revoked...i do a lot of ride a longs with officers and when they do a traffic stop for a tail light out or a head light out....the majority of the time they arent stopping these cars to be dicks about their headlight or tail light..in fact they normally only issue warnings---but A LOT of times have found problems during these stops that i mentioned above....every agency is different though

people can argue all day about the seat belt laws...it goes both ways....yes it has saved a lot of lives....BUT....also people who have chosen to wear their seat belts have also been killed because of wearing them (being trapped in the vehicle for example) Just the other day a lady was in a wreck and ejected from her vehicle...the car caught fire....if she wouldnt have been ejected its very possible she wouldnt have survived...just my opinion on how the pissing match of seat belts can go both ways... :notworthy:

They have been able to pull you over for not wearing a seatbelt and no other reason in CA for 15 years now, so needless to say I'm used to wearing it, and don't have to think about putting it on; my brain does it automatically when I get into a car. I just think its funny that they are running a big "click it or ticket" campain in CA anyway like we forgot about the seat belt law in CA that has already been going on for 15 years. :yank:

Its been in Ohio for a while now. Thats all I ever see is "click it or ticket". I can understand that law somewhat but I dont think they should be able to pull you over just for not wearing your seatbelt. They enforce it but not to the extreme yet, I know cops have seen me without my seatbelt on many times and not done anything about it. I wear my seatbelt on occaision. I am definitely not anti-cops or against them but this is another way to make money and control another aspect of your life. It hasnt affected me at all yet.

first of all, it costs the states waaaay more to have people in accidents without their seatbelts every year than they get from writing tickest for infractions. the whole its my body and my choice thing doesnt stand up, because it effects waay more people than just yourself when youre in an accident, even if its just you in the accident.  have you ever come upon an accident where someone wasnt wearing their seatbelt and seen someones head split open, brains hanging out? that effects you for life.  not to mention the hospital bills that taxpayers pay for people who cant afford the care they require.  and they also have child seat laws, do you have a proble with those? after all, its your kid, should be your choice right?

and finally, i dont understand why you wouldnt buckle up everytime you get in a vehicle. if you dont have enough respect for yourself, then at least have respect for the people that love and care about you.  how would your mother, father and brother feel if you were killed in an accident, and could have been saved if you were just wearing your seatbelt?  do you ride your bikes without a helmet ever? its the same idea.  i think there should be helmet laws too.

not everything is a big government conspiracy, just cause you dont like the rules.  i think public safety is important, every life is worth the time it takes to pull you over and check things out.

Thats where the other side comes in and thats exactly the point. Sometimes I am not so scared to die, but scared of what my parents, family, and friends will do. Scary to think about losing a friend or family member.

Seat belt laws have been around in the UK for a good while now. ... It's down to the driver to make sure any passengers have their belts on, otherwise the driver gets the fine.

Every time I get in a car, I picture the tree I hit square on a few years back. ... I wouldn't be here now if I hadn't been wearing a belt that night!

Rare.

I too belive, the click it or ticket campain is pure bullshit. I agree that not wearing your seatbelt while driving a car, or not wearing your helmet when on a bike is dumb, but that should be our choice, shouldent it? Ive know many people that survived accidents due to not wearing there seatbelt, 2 days ago, one of my best friends got into a accident, he wasent wearing a seatbelt, went through the winshild and survivied, his buddy who had, got both his legs broken, and a broken back, because the engine block of the car came into the front 2 seats, and if my buddy who got ejected was wearing his seatbelt, he woulda been way worse off. Now im not saying not wearing your seatbelt is safer then wearing it, but if i decide to get in a car without a seatbelt i think it should be my decision, not the fuckin governments.

We have had that law for 10 + years in Ohio.I don't think they really enforce it.Rather than pull you over for no seatbelt, they will find other citeable violations to pull you over for.(like no front plate, obstructed rear plate, failure to signal when changing lanes etc.)

Then they throw you the line...Well,I'm gonna let you go on this petty violation, but I'm gonna have to give you a ticket for a seatbelt. You won't get any points, but you'll have to pay a 75 dollar fine.

They make it sound like there doing you a F*cking favor.I have great respect for the law,if for no law,the roads would be a white line nightmare, like in The Road Warrior.Actually that would be ok too. :headbang:

i think its gay and it doesnt affect anyone but ourselves when we dont wear a seat belt. when is the last time you heard about a flying body from a car killing someone? and if they do pull you over, put your seatbelt on. how they gonna know? they have cameras?? fuck the government its a worthless piece of shit. lets concentrate on people who dont wear their seatbelts, nevermind the murderers, rapists, and so on and so forth. our government is rediculous.

well guys in some cases i agree, some disagree...I'f you are riding with another person in a car, I feel that "its only affecting me" isn't true at all for a few reasons, such as 1) your friend can get a ticket for you not wearing one, and 2) its a rare occasion, but does happen...if you get in an accident and arent wearing a seatbelt, your body can become a flying object which can strike the other persons in the car..but once again, this is pretty rare... :shrugani:
