Streetbike Clutch

Recommended Posts

I've done some reading on here for clutch kit suggestions and opinions on various brands. Loco and Stclark, you guys have talked this streetbike clutch up so much I decided to go that route. I spoke with Jeff at FAST Racing yesterday afternoon and I must say he is one hell of a guy. He asked all the right questions and knew exactly what i needed to get the job done. Anyone looking for clutch suggestions and/or information, i wouldn't hesitate to give Jeff a call (785.364.5325)

Thanks for the referral, I'll let you know the results after the install.

Did you put all six springs in? I'm going to put all six in and go with the ez-pull lever.

with that clutch you dont really need all six springs. I put all 6 in and there was NO slip so I put 4 in and its working better for me. It would stall off the line unless I reved it out with all 6 in there.

I just got mine the other day. :headbang: You using 4 is better than all 6? I would like to know so I don t have to take it apart twice. Also its 7ft lbs for the springs right? Thanks

I would like to know as well. Both Loco and Jeff have said to use all six springs. When you say "off the line" are you meaning sand dragging? Dirt, Street, Hills? Please provide a little more detail as i don't want to take this thing apart too many times.

DO yourself a favor...unless you have a bored/stroked high HP motor, I'd say above 65HP...use 3 stock springs, 3 of the HD springs.

My mods are in my sig. I originally put all 6 in...it was pretty tough despite an EZ lever and a brand new, lubed up cable. I put my new shiftstar in last Friday, put 3 and 3 in. DON'T put in 4/2. It'll throw off the balance...

Alternate stock/HD springs.

Jeff sells the basket and inner/outer hubs. Soon as I get some more loot...I'm gonna get that from him, too.

I agree...one helluva guy...he needs to get his ass on the HQ and talk it up!!

7.4 ft. lbs on the springs, and tighten them down in an alternate pattern.

I used 7.5 since the SnapOn Tourque wrench had .5 LB increments. I must say, it pulls nice, works like a champ...and didn't wear out my clutch hand/arm after a full day of trails and drags!!

Yeah i've got an LRD Dune port, .060 over, 30mm PWK's taper bored carbs, T5's, Reeds, PDCH 19cc,

I told Jeff these mods and he recommended going with all 6. I opted to go with the EZ pull lever just in case. I also purchased the inner/outer hubs along with the EZ shift spring. Basket looked perfect...

Did you go with 3/3 only because of the stiff lever?

popeye here I come

Yep...3/3 cause I rode it in a field for about an hour total...probably 10 minutes or so at a time. Granted...we were dragging the whole time...my arm was hit.

Yes, If I were you...I'd run all 6 to be safe. Once I get the Noss head, VForce Reeds and Port job, I'll be turning back over to 6 meself.

But...in due time!!

I'd have Jeff send you a bottle of Engine Ice as well. love that stuff!!

i would go with all 6 with your mods. once you get used to it i dont think youll notice it much. if you dont use all 6 then use 3/3 not 4/2...i also got all new clutch parts from him and it made a huuuge difference. if your clutch parts are junk, throwing a new clutch in wont help you much. itll just wear it out quick.
