AirForceRulz Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 I have been wanting to pipe my 05 shee for some time now. i finally saved up around 800 bucks to buy the pipes, I also wanna get the reeds and boost bottle and K & N filter for it. I think i might go with the shearers, but the LRD pipes are also cathing my eye. Any opionions will help. ALso I am wondering what the difference will be as far as top speed? I think a stock shee tops out like at 60 or something will the mods "wake up" my top speed? Any opionions and answers will be greatly appriciated. Thanx Quote
kw04 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 (edited) sprockets make it go alot faster. engine mods give it the power to turn the taller gears ratios to go faster. that helps. Edited May 9, 2005 by kw04 Quote
stclark816 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 Pipes arent gonna increase your top speed, your gearing is what will determine your top speed. Quote
sandman121383 Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 shearers pull like an animal on top! if all u want is top end then do ur homework and i think alot would agree with me. u gotta gear up though. i have stock gearing and my 1st gear is useless i use 2nd alot nemore. i'm gonna go up to a 15 or 16 tooth i think. hell any pipe u get will wake ur banshee up and let it breathe better. have fun man! let us know what u pick out Quote
trail rider Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 pipes help you get to your top speed faster (acceleration). I got bills pipes, sound and perform grate Quote
Oilsmoke Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Give PassionRE a call for set of shearers 450 chrome I think. Get the Boon Tune also. Milled head, Lighten fly wheel. Shift Star mod, K&N filter without lid. Adv timing 4 degree also. You can also bore the carbs add 15 tooth scroket and your top speed will be well over 75 all under 800 dollars Don't waste your money on a boost bootle. save little more for porting and you be haul'in Ass. decon Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 what kind of riding do you do? u can find some pipes for sale on the ol' hq instead of going out to buy some new ones, and then spend the extra money on those mods listed by oilsmoke. Quote
richybanshee Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 Do a Search on the pipes you want. CPI's, maybe Shearers and possibly Rockets will not achive maximun horse power with stock porting configuration. FMF SST, TOOMEY TR6, Procircuit will get the most HP out of the stock porting. Advancing the timming +4 will give you better midrange power and milling the head more bottom end power. With this power you can put at least a 15 front sproket and be okay, gaining some miles per hour. Quote
natemxz600 Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 will putting a 2 in 1 pipe affect my top speed? i know that it will help the bottom end out alot but im kind of wondering about how it will pull 6th gear Quote
slowpokebanshee Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 looking for top speed, I would recommend a 16 tooth front sprocket with paul turner mids... I ran this setup and was able to pull sixth and it was scary fast... no radar gun but gotta be close to triple digits, oh yeah I also had holeshot xct tires on it (23" front/22" rear) Quote

It will give you more low end. It would be better for trails, etc. Quote

Thanx 366426 Depending on the power curve of the pipes, most aftermarket pipes will rev higher than stock pipes before signing off. So yes pipes can increase top speed. Quote
badcompany Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Pipes arent gonna increase your top speed, your gearing is what will determine your top speed. 366437 Pipes do increase your top speed because most of them rev higher than stock. So with the same gearing but higher revving pipes your top speed will be higher. Quote

If you buy a set of pipes and put them on your banshee, $20 says that you arent gonna notice a top speed change. You will notice how the power band hits differently, and increased accelaration. If you want top speed, you need to gear your banshee higher. Quote

If you put FMF Fatty pipes against a set of Shearers, the Shearers will be faster as long as the motor was designed for it. Its like riding your bike at 5000 rpms and then reving it out to 8000. You'll be going faster Quote
