AirForceRulz
I have a 2001 Banshee all stock, last nite i started it up and noticed a little ticking sound. I kinda looked around the engine a nothing is hitting the pipes or anything so i ruled that out.It seems to be a little louder on the right side so i think it might be the water pump. My question is .. How do i diagnos its the water pump that is going bad or bad. Any help will be greatly appriciated.

mybadbanshee
last time i noticed a little ticking sound it cost me 300 bucks.no way to really diagnose it without rippin it down.
dajogejr
Whole lot a shakin going on in that right side. if you squeeze the clutch lever and let go a few times, does it go away, get louder, quieter?? Since you said ALL stock, I imagine they are the stock pipes, too. There are two rubber seals on EACH pipe. Check those, make sure there is no hole or crack in any of the rubber...that will make a real nice ticking sound...and you'll probably see a little black oil/gas around the rubber if it's leaking... If not...time for a tear down. Remove the whole side cover and inspect....
JARE77
If you take the water pump cover off you should be able to tell if its coming from there a little better if you havent done that already. If you think it is just drain your coolant and open it up its pretty basic stuff. If you have a clymers manual it will guide you through everything,if you dont have one I highly recomend getting one. Its like the Banshee bible!
locogato11283
a ticking noise prolly wont be the water pump. you prolly have a bigger problem on your hands. id start with the clutch. what happens when you pull it in? you can always pull just the water pump cover off and take the plate off and see if the impeller looks to be broken. theres a lot of shit behind there tho that can go bad. i still think that a ticking would be something metal, the impeller is plastic. SICK BOY
a ticking would be something metal, the impeller is plastic. 366526[/snapback] That's what I was thinking, unless it's a aftermarket impeller.
