.040 over wiseco.What exactly do they measure?

Wondering if anyone knows what a .040 wiseco prolite really measures.Or should I say..is it truely 2.550.(with a zero'd mic of course)

 

Any info is appreciated.

It could be a nats ass off but it should read 2.536 on the skirt but even that can be off depending on where exactly you measure. They are so close to each other compared to the old days that its pretty safe to say they are what they say they are. I set .040 over bores up at 2.5395" finished hone measurement....Jim

Thanks Jim,I spoke with a Wiseco tech guy and he told me that the target bore size for.040 oversize was 2.559,the target piston size would be 2.556 +0/-.0005.They also advised a minimum .003 clearance.

Oh sorry, I had .020 on the brain , 2.5595 is where I set them up at.

Yeah, with a good dial bore gauge its a piece of cake....you could drive yourself crazy with a telscoping gauge and micrometer though...Jim

.0001 resolution is standard in our shop for close tolerance bores. On the grinding side of things we measure with .000005 resolution mics, so .00001 is the smallest we can accuritely measure. :cheers: Got to love being able to do the close tolerance shit.
