Michaelac1984
Last week i started up my banshee and the damn bike acted like it had a rev limiter it wouldnt rev over 600 rpm. I searched this site and asked someone about this problem and i got the same answer everywhere that my stator was most likely the issue. i got a rick stator stator and a new pickup coil and it dident fix the problem! i have fooled around with everything trying to fix it the carbs i cleaned and tryied diffrent jets, i checked and cleaned my reed valves, looked over the entire electrical system to see for damaged wires, with this new stator i played with the timing, trryied new plugs, put new gas in. i need some ides please this thing is driving me crazy
MILO
make sure the e-brake isn't on, or the wiring isn't messed up. also the TORS can throw fits that will give similar symptoms also. Edited April 30, 2005 by MILO
RNBRAD
I would bet it's the TORs system. The brain is behind the left side of the radiator (when your sitting on it) unplug it and try again.

If you want, come over and get that single carb and intake to bolt on there and see if it works. If it does, then you know you have a TORS problem. I wasnt even thinking TORS. I havent messed with stock carbs in a long time. Or, since its not raining yet today, bring your shee over. We'll get er done. Just a thought... boonman
Even if you put the single carb system on, you will still have to unplug the TORS system to do it. SO, why go through all the trouble of changing the carb system to find out if the TORS is the problem? Just unplug the module. Then order yourself up a TORS removal kit. It gives you new carb tops, and an idle kit. One of the best few dollars spent for stock carbs....
MonkeyBoy
Make sure your coil isn't jumping to ground at the higher rpm's. Rev her up in the dark with all lights off, and you will see it if it jumps to ground, just look at the coil where the wires plug in. ledofthezep
Definately do the tors gig, coil would be my next place to look after that...may unscrew your plug caps, clip the wires a bit & rescrew them on...checked for air leaks? does it backfire at all? kaos646
check the rev limiter switch on the clutch perch.if it,s not pluggeg into the perch it cuts your rpm off.if you take it off you have to disconnect it from the wiring harness,or you'll only have about 1500 rpm. Justintoxicated
get a factory Yamaha Clutch, it's like $35 (it's adjustable and good as any). Ditch the Parking Brake complealty and get the blockoff I could not believe how long I rode with the stock clutch after getting the factory one. fixitrod
You can remove the parking brake and switch then cut the perch with a cutting wheel to make it look like any other perch. That way you don't have to buy one.
