BansheeBob
Hi All, New to the forum and a brand new Banshee owner. Traded a Yamaha Raptor for an 03 Banshee with Toomey 6's and a K&N filter setup. Owned many different ATV's including a CR500 powered 3 wheeler. Also just picked up a new Suzuki King Quad for trail riding so I traded the Raptor for what will be a Sand Only Banshee. Anyway, we noticed today after riding it around the block while it sat and idled it appeared to be leaking a little water from under the Radiator area. After preliminary inspection we think it is dripping from a fuel line sized black hose coming from the radiator. Overflow bottle is full, but who know's if former owner filled before trade?. Any suggestions? The Banshee wails!!!
MILO
yeah, ride it... it's probably just a little overfilled and blowing out the overflow tube. keep an eye on the res tank. shee's usually do spit a little out everynow and then. ssanddemon
I wouldn't ride it at all til I pulled the cap and made sure there was something in the radiator. Any kind of hole in the hose to the bottle will keep it at the same level while the radiator goes dry and you smoke the motor.

Headed for Dumont next week and may be fairly hot so want to make sure my cooling system is intact.

BansheeBob
i was assuming that was done already sorry. 362474[/snapback] Checked the water a second time and it is full at both the radiator and reservoir. Maybe when the system pressurizes I lose a little through the overflow. I'll keep an eye on the fluids this week when we head for the dunes... fixitrod
Click on this link... it may help you figure out the hose routing too ..... http://kuoi.asui.uidaho.edu/~john/tips.html
03bansheeLE
i have the same problem, after a summer of riding my resivoir tank is almost empty and i know that it is not burning or leaking it any where else but that one tube that comes off the top of the resivoir and drips onto my pipes. I would suggest looking at the like that fixitrod gave out, i just read it and i am going to mount the tank at the front of the bike. i hopw this helps you bansheebob because reading this thread helped me too. I think I will move my reservoir, that's a mod that makes sense. Headed for Dumont in a couple of days, first trip on the shee and looking forward to a shake down cruise.... Capone
Alot of the time coolant loss and overflow can be caused by a blown headgasket. It comes out of the top of the radiator because of the pressure, of the boiling water/coolant. I'd definately check into your headgasket, 'cause a $15 gasket can save your 250$+ top end. =) Edited May 2, 2005 by Shee K
dajogejr
Mine used to spit up just a bit. I put the tank up front, just like the post said. Haven't changed anything else. The level in the bottle hasn't budged an inch... I used to think it was overheating...and that was when it was about 50 degrees out... Glad I found that post...much happier now. Of course, you still want to check compression, etc., to make sure your head gasket, etc., isn't blown...but...this bottle relocation is a great little trick!! 03bansheeLE
well, i relocated by bottles and whala, i took it for a ride for about 2 hours and no coolant leaked at all. The operation does make sense with the tank being so high when at the back and all. I recommend anyone who hasnt done this and notices leaking to do it. I know im not leaking through head gastket because i opened the rad and revved it up and the fluid would shoot up but it didnt. Thx anyways for the tip though shee k/ Darren
