I know there are a ton of posts on 2 into 1 Pipes on here.....well I am gonna confirm some things that I have heard and read.

I call the people at DYNOPORT about my 2 into 1 pipe that was on my bike when I got it. Called to ask about why the F it leaks around the ports. Response..."thats normal....you will never get the dribble to stop on a 2 into 1."

ok..no big deal there....just friggen messy.

Next I asked about jetting for that pipe. He siad, "they call for STOCK JETTING. But wince you have a K&N with mod'd air box you need to go up 2 sizes."

>>>this I am not so sure I believe. I know no one on here is comfortable with this information. Then again...who the F is gonna call the companies bluff? They would know the info right?

so in the end...still have a messy exhaust leak, and a great running bike that seems to get hot if I ride trails. SAME THING I STARTED WITH. But I do like the pipe sound and performance...nice and smooth all the way through. No High revs..but here in FL I dont need that....small trails!

Sorry so long. Feel free to chime in.

You need to throw their advice out the window & check your jetting with a plug chop. Get the jetting right & if your 'Shee still overheats, start checking for cooling system problems. The solution might be as simple as running engine ice or you might find a problem with the water pump impeller.

Mine was overheating occasionally, it turned out that the impeller was warped causing it to rub the outside cover which eventually led to the plastic drive gear stripping out.

ok I called dynoport about mine too and got the same response from them. Here is what I did, first of all I put some high temp sealant arounf the exhauist port holes and let it dry overnite, voila", no more exhaust leak. Second of all, in chicago here I run 2 sizes up on the main and readjusted the airscrews. Im running a proflow foam filter with the snorkle off. Runs like a top!!

UPDATE:

High temp RED sealer worked like a champ. We will see how well the jetting is with a plug chop coming soon. like I said before...I have to find a strip to run at WOT! My street is full of kids and small.

Oh...and to check the impeller for problems...what do I need?

drain coolant?

Gasket to put back on?

do i pull the whole side cover to check?....or JUST to replace it?

Thanks

Have to pull the side cover off, get a new gasket, and replace the Tranny oil AND Coolant.

If you have the money, here's what I'd do. Get a jug of Engine Ice...anyways.

Flush out your system with the garden hose.

This is a nice, reliable and improved impeller:

I'm sure you could find a comparable one to save a few bucks.

Tighten it all back up, put the engine ice in.

That should solve your cooling issues. Since you mentioned tight, slow trails to ride..it doesn't sound like you're holding her wide open all the time.

Also...recently, I used to have a little dribble out the overflow tube when I'd shut down after a few runs.

I relocated the resevoir to the front of the bike...and it doesn't drip a drop now.

Magic also sells this, for cheap. Allows the draining of coolant only, without removing the whole side cover. Oh...looks nice, too:)
