rjvoight
Response time was not delayed. That means the trooper immediately notified the appropriate medic unit, dispatching them to the scene of the crash. He did his job. His words were harsh and poorly chosen. However, the article shows a picture of the deceased not wearing a helmet, looking at a camera, not the road, maybe he was playing a game. The trooper, I can only assume because I have not heard the tape, was short and abrupt. Even jaded a little. He has had 18 years of experiance and has more likely than not seen hundreds of fatal crashes involving motorcycles and cars. He has probally seen dead kids, mothers, fathers and grandparents. According to the article until this point he has had an "unblemished" career. The fact that people want him fired because they did not like what he said is wrong. Everyone one of us has had a bad day, a day where we said something we should not have said. Look in the mirror and then give this guy a break. blk02banshee
I heard the tape, and he should be fired, or at least demoted to the bottom of the police force.
dune_girl
having a bad day is definately not an excuse.....if he couldnt handle the calls in a professional matter....then he shouldnt be on the job...there was another dispatcher there...let them handle the call if he didnt feel that he could be polite..theres no excuse for treating somebody like that when they're trying to provide you information during an emergency...yeah we've all had bad days...but can you honestly say you would handle a situation in that manner and you mentioned the kid didnt have a helmet on and was lookin at the camera...not the road and that maybe he playin a game....that still doesnt justify the fact that the trooper didnt handle the actual phone calls as described in his job description...also its very true that this story is possibly one sided--but who is to say that he dispatched the appropiate units to the site...and the other dispatcher didnt.... but everybody has their own opinion right

I am just asking should he loose his entire career over one incident? RJV

rjvoight
good point...but im sure that they're just wondering if it happened once...why wouldnt it happen again? 356095[/snapback] Absolutely. It may have but if no one has documented it along the way that it has been a problem, we can not assume it is. In todays society if he had been an ass in the past, I think it would have come out. Other people he had contacted in the past would have come forward saying "yeah and when I dealt with he did x" whatever x is. To my knowledge no one has come forward. Also, Police Agencys are so afraid of getting sued anymore, they document every single complaint. (most agencies, not all but most). In an investigation like this it would have gotten to the media if there were other internal complaints or documents. Like I said, he screwed up and needs to be held accountable. I just don't think everyone should string him up quite yet. Just my opinion.... RJV
sheerocks05
thats true by now more ppl would have come forward and they still may, every call is recorded so there will be no disputing whether he did or not...
cudaz101
It takes a special type of person to do that kind of work. I personally would rather never have that type of a job. I agree that he should be forced to resign. He needs to do something else. The job has taken its toll on his compassion for humanity and general values. Its kinda sad really... I have to admit that although I have remorse for anyone that is in an accident..But...I tend to lose a little compassion for those that ride like wild fools "Such as myslef" AND don't wear helmets on Bikes...But its not my job to do so either...
