Should I rebuild

JArmShee

Recommended Posts

The shee I recently Bought was rebuilt about 2 years ago since then no hours have been put on it. It started right up and drove fine. Should i rebuild just be sure it will be ok. I know the owner who had the quad b4 me and he did the right thing on the previous rebuild. Is there a chance the o rings and gaskets could dry out? I was thinking new gas, coolant, Oil change, and plug.

Any advice appreciated

You have a point about the seals and such, but if it were me, and you already started it... I just have fun on it. The only seal I'd be worried about is the crank seals but they'll probably be fine.

Something you can do to decide since you've ran it alread is to do a leak down and compression test. It the seal shafts collected rust and caused the seals to rip you'll know with a leak down. As far as the cylinders go a compression test will help determine the status of the rings.

yea i would go ahead and ride it. chances are everything is fine and you wont have a problem for a long time. what kind of head is on it? is it an aftermarket head? like fixitrod said possibly the seals on the crank could go bad but id go ahead and ride it and wait until something for sure goes bad.
