Bensshee
Anybody ever had a problem, that once you get in first gear with the clutch in, you can still push the shifter down endlessly. I am not sure what would allow the shifter to shift lower than first gear.
trail rider
uhhhh thats normal they all do that. Unless you mean that the shift lever goes all the way down and drags the ground . If thats it, tight'n your bolt on the shifter
BigRed350x
No its not normal. When you hit first and go to shift down again your shifter should not move down at all. I would pull the clutch side cover off and take a look at your shift star. Sounds like one of the cogs on your shift star isn't grabbing or something. I had a similar problem that went away after I rebuilt my lower end. When I tore it apart the shift star clearances were pretty iffy. fixitrod
I have a friend with a blaster that does that too. But, it doesn't up shift either. I haven't looked at it yet. Oh yeah, his clicks everytime like it's going into a gear also. Edited April 4, 2005 by fixitrod
BigRed350x
You shouldnt have to split the cases. Everything you need to adjust that stuff is inside the clutch cover on that side of the engine. Splitting the cases will only get you to the shift drum, shift forks, and the gears themselves. Everything that you need to look at is inside the clutch cover. Get a clymer manual and go fix it. brock_fuzzy_69
when i got a parts bike it was like that the adjusting pin that the return spring rides on had actually plit in half so the shift lever was in a way just flopping around it never returned to position

fixitrod
Let us know what you find in there Ben. I'm curious !!
Bensshee
well I took the clutch side apart and the problem was the shift shaft adjuster came loose. I adjusted it up and it seems to work now, I did notice that there is a piece (looks to be pressed in) the hold the to little arms to the shift shaft that has signs of wearing so that may need to be replace soon as well. fixitrod
The a " lock washer" that you have to bend up to hold that adjuster in place. I had a problem with that to. It was messing up my shifting during racing.

If thats it, tight'n your bolt on the shifter 349231[/snapback] Opps, sorry man. I was thinkin' that cause on one of my bikes (crf 150) there is play in the shift lever, like you can still move it down a little when your in 1st. Its like that on all the ones ive seen so I guess thats the way those are made . I dont even notice much stuff in the shifter on my banshee. Mine doesn't go down after ur in 1st so I guess ur's is a problem. my mistake, wasn't thinkin
