See if the blue wire came uplugged from the voltage regulator (the silver box beside the cdi). It happened to me once.

ssanddemon
Mine did that, it was the lighting coil side of the stator. Luckily Ricky fixed me up with a high output jobbie.
98bonerSTOCKshee
get a clymer's repair manual it tells you how to check all the electrical hardware with a ohm meter to determine what part of the system went bad....
J-Madd
Are the bulbs blown? If they are, the voltage regulator is bad, and too much voltage was sent to the lights. (same as if it came uplugged, in my case). If not, it is most likely something else.

If they are fine the lighting coil side of the stator is gone.... as long as there is no loose wire. The stator has two sets of coils. One for lighting and one for ignition. Here's a pic. Standard stator from www.rickystator.com High output (Being for lighting)
ssanddemon
A quick note here; I checked the stator's ohm readings according to the Clymers and it was real close to the proper readings (like a couple ohms). I said hell with it and bought a new one, and sure enuff that was it.
