ledofthezep
Led is not dead! Thanks for all your thoughts & prayers everyone...it really means a lot. You all here on the HQ have been great and helped me out tremendously these past few months. Can't thank you all enough. Anyhoo...ended up with a severe staph infection / MRSA "methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus" ---a type of bacteria that is resistant to certain antibiotics. My lower lip was about 6times its normal size...all stemmed from scraping off a little white-head. My body was resisting everything they gave me until they're last resort--Vancomycin aka Vanco...after about 48hrs of the nasty shit pumping through my ass it seems to have done the trick. If it hadn't of worked they were going to life-flight me to Wichita & remove my lower lip and hope for the best, then if I didn't die reconstruct a new lip. The doc told me if they'd of waited about 8hrs longer to give me the Vanco they're about a 90% chance I'd be dead right now since the shit got into my bloodstream. They couldn't give it to me 1st because it's such a pontent anti-bacteria, they have to try all the others 1st. But I'm doing better now, finally back @ work and online...still on some anti-biotics and I've pretty much eaten all my painkillers. The demeral was alright...but after 3days of it getting pumped into me every 2 hours on the spot, it wasn't really even seeming to do much. Just glad to be back, have missed the HQ & being able to be out & about again; sucks I had to miss snakehunt, but I'm planning on hitting the sand next weekend to get my fix & hopefully leave all this shit behind me. Gotta take it easy for a bit though because if I get the flu, a temp, anything pretty much I have to go strait back to the hospital. Just keeping my fingers crossed... Again...thanks for all the thoughts & kind words, and my bro zephead400ex for keep'n you all in check. Hoping to get out for my B-day tonight & have some fun. RNBRAD
Yep MRSA is nothing to be messing with. Generally younger peoples immune system can warrant off the MRSA unless your system gets run down. All the stress you've gone through lately I'm sure contributed to this infection. Vanc is a last resort cause it's too hard on the organs, especially the kidneys. Just glad your back and doing better. Go have some fun for your Birthday. .
that's crazy man......how does an infection like that come about from a whitehead? Is it a certain thing that gets into the opening? Just kind of a luck of the draw type thing? Did they say where this type of bacteria comes from that people would encounter in every day life? Good to hear your recovering man and still got your lip and hell....your still alive. That would be a hell of an open casket.....first gotta deal with you dead....then you look in and have no lip.... You're definitely going through a test.......hopefully you'll start on your upswing man

I had some sort of strain of staph when I was 9 months old. From the pictures I've seen of myself I had something similar to a 3rd degree burn over my entire body except for the bottoms of my feet and the palms of my hands. The skin would literally just come off like I had been boiled. My parents took me into the ER on Christmas eve, and I stayed there for a couple of weeks or more. They had to scrub me with a nylon brush and then coat me in some sort of salve. I was only the 2nd person to have ever had it in Utah. I'm lucky I didn't even have a single scar or anything from it. Brooke
you actually have staph all over your body. you can get an infection from any open wound on your skin, if it gets in there. so dont pop zits, or pick scabs!!! and its just as important to wash your hands often all the time, not just cold and flu season. but really, not much you can do about it, any little cut can get infected with it, staph is all over everything lol
ledofthezep
Yepper...staph is everywhere & MRSA is getting more & more common, it's everywhere, supposedly has been said to possibly be the next epedemic in North America. Just scraped a little white-head, wasn't even big enough to amount to a good zit. Is most common among those who's immune system is down...but mine was good, so it was just a freak deal...about 1 in 3000 the doc said. Leave it to me... But yeah, as brooke said...don't pop zits &/or pick scabs, unless you're soaked in anti-bacterial soap & wearing disinfected leather glvoes.
