PolyKarbon
If youre running 175 in compression, is that too much? What is too much, and what would be the first thing to break with too much compression?

thegroup
Anyone? 339166[/snapback] guess not
racer
for a stock crank yes it is. and this is also the first thing that will grenade. to run that high of comp you should really get it trued and welded and that will make sure things dont fly apart. Banshee~
The first thing it would break for me, is my wallet. Race gas is to expensive for me
dlnoss
I run 19cc with 175 psi and a stock crank. I think in most cases it will be okay. There are always exceptions. If you have sticky slicks on hot pavement, pin the throttle then drop the clutch the crank might not be the same geometry afterwards. PolyKarbon
The same geometry. HAHAHAHA! Yeah, I really don't want a grenaded crank. I thought the head gasket might go first.
dlnoss
Really, in most cases I think you would be fine. Unless there is enough resistance against the crank, like traction that a stock suspended Banshee doesn't usually have, that compression shouldn't hurt it. FireHead
The trade off between high compression and high RPM performance is that in higher RPM's there will be more static drag and make higher RPM's less achievable, but your low end performance will be much higher. Does that make sense? I'm drunk and I'm not sure if I care.
