I currently own an 05 Banshee, I sold my Mint 89 250r a few months back, I can tell you first hand that my 250r w/ just a LRD Pipe will smoke my Banshee w/ a Dynoport pipe. That thing was ripping fast. The bottom end crushed the banshees into the ground even w/ the 2-1 pipe. If I were you I would buy this bike and not look back. If I wasn't tempted w/ such a good offer I would have never gotten a banshee. I love my Yami but plain and simple the 250r Dominates when it comes to Trails and MX.

Exactly what I was going to say. Up until the latest 450 rage from Yamaha and Honda, it was THE bike to have for MX.

And they only made it from 86 to 89...

Think about that...a 12, 13 year old bike dominating...

They will smoke a shee stock vs. stock on a track and tighter trails...

They are a total blast to ride, jump and handle great.

Just gotta give it a good once over due to the age. Good thing is, old as it is...still a ton of parts for 'em.

A few years ago...a good 250R was going for a lot more, but...since the 450s came out, they are starting to drop in price.

I raced a ported/polished piped 89 this weekend. Sure, I beat him in the drag...but, after racing him, we pulled over...and I just goo goo gaa gaa'd over his bike. It was one beautiful, clean machine.

Kinda made me miss my old done up stutz 85 QuadRacer...:)

Go for it dude...4X4s are a dime a dozen. Sure, this is a classic....but think about this. How much has the Banshee really changed since 87? (J Arms...plastics and color...:)

Hope it treats you good!!

250rs are decent peppy  machines ,but dont expect arm stretching banshee  power ,its gonna take some money to approach 60rwhp on one ,dont get me wrong though, because theyre are 250rs out there that will rip your arms off and embarass some she owners too, itjust takes $$$ to do so ,theyre nice smallish quads and handle like the  cats ass (good) 86 was the bastard child year ,but still a nice  reliable and fun machine

defintily better (funner)than a fourtraxx 300 utility quad in every way  :)

what do you mean 86 is the bastard child year?? 86 has the strongest frame, and it has the short rod motor :headbang:

i sold my 86 250r for my banshee having to bolt stuff on everywhere to compare to somewhat of the power i had its different power than a banshee but tons of fun,i had a 350 powervalve kit in my 250r and i took a lot of banshees, but plan on spendin about three grand for that power, all in all really fun bike nice suspension compared to the banshee
