dawgfan
OK, I have done repeated WOT plug chops and keep moving up my main jet, but can't get the chocolate ring on the plug element. Shee runs awsome, starts easy, idles great, and screams at WOT! Runs better than ever, but no brown ring, what gives? The tip of the plug is a nice chocolaty color, which is what I've always gone by. I am currantly on 330's (the biggest I have), stock pilot, stock needle in original clip position (i think). --currently running T-5's, .030 milled head, TDR reeds and cages, Pro-Flo foam set up w/o lid, 40:1 mix, at about sea level.......and have a +4 degree key to be added after flywheel lightening next week. Any ideas, I hate to screw with her any more than necessary since she is running so good, but will if you think I should. Oh, and there is a little prob with oil leaking from exhaust ports , but I will post that seperatly. Share the wisdom fellas.......... Then I cut off the threds to expose the whole element, but no ring. Could I be doing something wrong, or jetting just not right yet?

Make sure you have no fuel restictions anywhere.

Like I said, she runs great, no sputtering or backfiring at WOT, just can't seem to find that damn ring. I'll let her ride for now........... Ducman
Are you able to hold it at WOT in 6th gear for very long? The only think I can think of is that you may not be running it long enough to get a ring. If you do several passes WOT it wont effect the ring height, it will just make it a little darker if your too rich. Where I do my WOT plug chops I can only stay WOT in 6th for about 1 or 2 seconds so I turn around and run WOT back the other direction again before I remove the plugs. When I was about 1 to 2 main sizes small I still got a around a 1.5mm ring and a bit light, and not as even all the way around the plug. When I was about 1 - 2 sizes too rich it was about 2.5mm ring and a bit dark, but I never did it and didn't have any ring at all.
