300m leaking = dealer scam

Recommended Posts

Yo!

just thought Id throw a story out there.

You all remember Kira, the hot blond that poses on my quad every once in a while

well she drive a 99 300m, and it started leaking oil

I noticed that it was leaking from the oil cooler line (shitty pressed on fitting)

so I repaired it, and she went back home (2 hours from me)

it started leaking again really bad, so i had her take it to the dodge dealership up there

they said $700, it was the rear amin seal, and the oil pan gasket

i said bullshit

they then offered to drop the price to $500....

i had kira pick uyp the car and take it to a mom and dad mechanic shop

i didnt tell them what was wrong, and theu quoted me $200 to fix the OTHER end of that same oil cooler line (a real bitch to get at)

kinda funny, cause they didnt say anything about the rear main or the gasket.....

moral of the story: always get a 2nd opinion, even if it cost you $50 to have them check it out....

They will rip you off at any and every opportunity, have you ever seen those dateline type shows where they take the cars to a mechanic and have everything checked out then go to aother mechanic? Every time they try to say you need this changed and replace this or that filter and half the time they don't even do what you paid for or you didn't need it. I'm glad my friends dad owns a shop it's saved me thousands over the years.

Ray I work at a Chrysler dealer at 18 and Van Dyke, I can say that I have never seen a rear main leaking on one of those 3.5's yet yes oil pans gaskets and power steering cooler lines leak. The engine oil pan leak looks like a rear main leak due to wind from driving carries the oil back.

Congrats on the wedding date

I would drop a hint to the BBB or if there is any other organizations that govern auto repair shops. That's absolutely rediculous and untolerating.
