y2kbanshee9187
That is the problem with some police today, they do not use common sense. they don't look at the overall situation. they act like robots, black and white and without looking at the human aspect. Common sense says you guys were not hurting anything and were not being reckless, in fact you were safer than any other person in a car most likely. On the flip side though, If he let you go after stopping you and one of you ended up killing yourself, the Office would have been open for a lawsuit though. He has to do something. He could have given you the option to get a friend or relative to come with a trailer. That would have been the human thing to do. But instead, he worked you both over and then lectured you both. He is why police have a bad name. RJV 333116 True
y2kbanshee9187
Where do you live? At my dads house in the city, the same thing probably would have happened. At my moms in the country I have passed cops on the road and they havent even turned around but also I have been pulled over by one out there. Guess it depends on the cop ya get. Brian060
Why the fuck did you stop? There's no way they would have EVER caught you. 8 inches of snow and a cop car dont mix. We were gonna ride our town this year, but we never got enough snow.. We told ourselves if a cop were to pull us over, we would all go our own ways and meet up somewhere. Look at it like this... If you run from the cop and get caught, your shit is gonna be impounded, if you pull over like he wants you to, your shit is gonna get impounded. So in theory, it would be wiser (in my opinion) to try to run and get the fuck outta there cuz ur fucked either way.. 333039 Hell yeah man, You cant SURVIVE riding on LI if you stop for every cop that tries to stop you. BUT...... when it snows out here the cops just dont give a shit

I've got a buddy that rode his dirt-bike to work several years ago because his car was broke down. He lived on the far west side of our town & rode the alleys in-town & then rode the ditches along- side the hiway for about 2 miles to get to work. The city cops chased him several times & so did our rural sheriffs deputies, but they never could catch him in the act. About two weeks later, he came home to find several tickets stuck in his mailbox, speeding, alluding officers, running stop-sign & failure to yield. rjvoight
He said the only reason he did it was because he did not want someone to get hurt. And there we complaints about snowmobiles drag racing up and down the street. That was my point exactly. Look at it from his side given that info, someone calls in and complains. He happens to be in the area and sees you. If he does not stop you and the caller sees that, he gets beefed at work by concerned citizen. If he stops you and lets you go and you get hurt, he gets screwed even worse. I still think he could have given you the option of getting it home yourself but at least he met you guys half way. MILO
here in pa, you aren't allowed on roads even if snow covered unless they are shutdown and declared a state of emergency. if you are willingly breaking the law, be prepared to suffer the consequences IF you get caught, and don't be a bawl bag about it! the cop's just doing his job. it's not only you that you create a safety issue with, it's anyone else on the road also, including the police cruising the area protecting you and yours otherwise. i know it seems harmless to us, but there is potential for trajedy there, so we're definitely on opposite sides of the fence with the cops on this one. i won't deny riding on the roads, whether snowy or middle of summer, and chances are i would run if chased. it wouldn't be the first time for being chased, even done it on a street bike a few times. circumstances are everything though, so it's a judgement call. i believe it is a felony to run here and the cops can crash you to make you stop. also the cam's really limit your chances of getting away with it. your taking a huge chance either way. bottom line is this. learn to be responsible for your actions, or change your habits!! i love the part about being a decent citizen and pulling over for the cop. i'm sure the cop's thinking that a decent citizen wouldn't be doing this to begin with. blk02banshee
The cops have to do their jobs, especially if there's a complaint or the rider is being a careless idiot. How the cops react all depends on the situation. My friend and I were riding the streets during a blizzard and had our lights off, so we would'nt attract attention(lol). We realized a cop had noticed us and turned around and came after us, so we hid behind some bushes. Well, he found us, and asked if we were riding on the street. How could we lie? we said yes and he asked if we had lights, but we said they did'nt work. He said "get those lights fixed, if you're going to ride on the road." That was over 10 years ago, though. BigRed350x
Here in wyoming you can actually make your quad street legal. Here's what you have to have... Headlights Tail lights Brake Lights Mirror Horn Registration (just go down to the courthouse with your title and proof of insurance) Dont even have to motorcycle liscense. Its a four wheeled vehicle, so normal liscense works. Don't have to have a speedo either. I have my warrior street legal and ride it all over town in the summer time. I rode right beside a cop for about 8 blocks one day and romped on it at all the stop lights. As long as i didn't go much faster than 30 he didn't care. He even told me "thats a good idea with gas prices the way they are" when we were sitting at one light. I asked if he would race me but he said "no, I don't think that would be very fair for me" lol Good Ol Wyo. - Jared
