first of all not to sound like a complete moron or arrogant but i want flames to come out the exhaust on my truck. it got straight pipes on it (dont run truck down main roads) i was wondering how can i DIY my own flame throwers? i was almost thinking getting a coil off a twin cylinder engine, threading some spark plugs into the exhaust and looking for some sort of pulsator to run the coil off the battery with a flick of the switch. can any one help me? it looks neat as all hell i think

edit** it is an old ford with a 4bbl, double pumper. once in a while you can flood it with the choke while its running anf get it to work...

the safer way to do it ..............pulling that choke on causes engine damage

as the raw fuel wipes the oil right off the cylinder walla and it mixes in the oil

some guys run a small fuel pump into the tailpipes..........using a check valve to make sure the flame wont travel up the delivery hose

they use brake line to plumg it into the tailpipe

braze the brake line into the tailpipes and crush the end of the tube so it puts larger droplets of fuel into exhaust stream

i got to see a few cars setup like that at a car show it was crazy the flames that could be thrown

if i find a link i will show you some pics of them in action

most all use a larger slip on tip to keep the heat and flames away formt he body of course

We did this in highschool. All you need is to put spark plugs about 8-10 inches from the end of the tailpipe. Wire in a second coil, but make it so when its switched on, the main power to the engines ignitions is interupted. WHen your rev that puppy up, flip the switch and start pumping the hell out of the throttle. You can get good "afterburner" looking flames, but not HUGE flames.

We used a small holding tank with an electric fuel pump once also to pump gas, and even tried ether once. We used brake line like said before, and "airline muffler" to shoot the fuel into the exhuast.

When I first put the secondary fuel shooter in, I used a plain brake line and it pumped so much fuel into the exhaust it would actually leave a burning puddle or trail behind the car. I didnt think that was a real good idea, and then added the "muffler" to slow the fuel delivery some.

NONE of this will work with a vehicle with a cataletic converter or fuel injection.
