I have a new shee and do not want to port it right now. I have heard that Vito's super stock pistons alter the port timming and lower crank pressure. Probably I may get a set so:

How do you guys like the pistons with the stock shee?

Do they really work?

Are the pistons reliable? (I know they are made by wiseco with Vito's specs)

Vito says that the pistons can add 8 HP on top end, with CPI pipes I calculate at least 10 HP more, so 18 HP total, maybe a K&N filter and proper jetting 2HP more.

If the shee makes like 32 HP + 20 HP of mods mentioned, that is 52 HP.

What do you guys think?

forget about your calculated 20 hp power gain (it doesnt work like that) vitos pistons wear more and break skirts sooner than stock or prolights ,itll rev a tad quicker and you may notice a bit more giddyup but dont expect a 8 hp gain, hell iwouldnt expect a 4 hp gain, vitos pistons are shorter and lighter but will not hold up like standard wiseco prolites, and are prone to dropping skirts .i wouldnt be trying them if it were me ,they rely on the principle of tricking your jugs into thinking there ported and theres no replacement for the real thing ,get a eric gorr port if you want to save some money and youll have your + 20hp gain for cheap

besides cpi need a ported engine to really come alive anyways.

I've run Vito's SS pistons for 3-4years now and have not had any problems with the skirts breaking. I have 2 friends that run them with no problems also.

Most people that talk bad about them have never run them and are going by hear-say.

Take two identical bikes (not ported) - one with Vitos SS and one with regular pistons and the one with Vito's will walk all over the other one.

Their not going to give the HP gain of a port job but they are a cheap alternative if you have to rebuild anyway

Don't bother getting them. Your a lot better off getting standart prolites and getting it ported. I have them and they don't seem to be as good of pistons as the hype is on them. Mine are 2 1/2 yrs old and it''s really low on compression right now. I won't go back with them, i plan to get porting and standard wiseco's next time around....just my $.02 :shrugani:

Oh, i forgot to mention they drop your compression and you dont have near the low end that you would have before. I bet if they stopped calling them S.S. pistons you wouldn't think as highly of them :shootself:

Yeah, actually i think the wisecos would have more compression cuz they seem to hold up better. Maybe its just my motor or combination of mods :shrugani: , but with that cutout in the piston, when its up against the head there is a lil more room with the dish in the piston so compression is lowered, but think, its still gonna increase when you go from a bad top end to a new set of superstocks, im not tryin to argue because everyone is going to have their own opinion and that is respectable, but everyone is going to have different results with them. All i said is that i wont go back with them, but i never told ne one they couldn't run them...

I have run vitos and they do run good, but they are shorter so they rock more. There fore wearing sleeves out quiker and the skirts do get more stress for that reason. When I tore mine apart the skirt was cracked.Vitos pistons are no longer Wisecos .They used to,just ask any of the big engine builders what they think.Yes most people charge to much for a all around port job.I will port for $200 and pistons cost $140 ,so for $ 340 you got more power and longer life.

I have a 2005 bashee, practically new and do not want to do any porting, at least not for now. That is why I was thinking of putting the vito's super stock, but I think I will be better leaving things like that for now.

Probably I will try other things first like: advancing timming +4 degrees, Noss cool head with 20 cc domes, VForce reed cage.

What you guys think?
