Questions about stroker domes.

I bought an aluminum head for an RZ motor. The head came with 20cc domes. I have never seen domes like these before so I amy need to get these to work. If the dome is cut for a +4 crank, will the dome size reduce enough to be run on 110 octane.

I enclosed a picture of the head and dome in case someone had seen these before.

That looks like a ADA head...., too bad. You should have gotten a Noss head.

The domes will need to be cut, even if you use it on a stock engine and crank. The ADA domes will only give you about .020" to .025" squish clearance. Your 20 cc domes are probably 20.7 cc, as I have found out they don't measure what there are advertised (not enough in my opinion). Also good luck trying to get any information from ADA. There customer service sucks!

As soon as he builds one, I will.

Those don't look like stroker domes. Are you asking if they can be modified into stroker domes?

Yes, I am. I was just curious if anything can be done with these because I haven't seen too many that look like this.

The head says Engine Trix on it. ADA might make it for them, I don't know. The problem is there are not a whole lot of choices for RZ jugs.

I think it's going to be tough to modify those and maintain a reasonable combustion chamber without the spark plug hanging way down inside the dome. Have you called the manufacturer? You could build it with a base spacer.

First, thanks for all the responses.

David, would it be better to start with a different dome and just have it machined to the right shape and size?

I agree that the head does use ADA style domes, so at least I can get replacements.

I'm just trying to get everything together before I start the build.

Unless I'm not thinking of something I think that's what you will need to do. You could call Dan at Patriot and see if he is making ADA style domes. Does ADA sell dome blanks?

It might be easier to just use a spacer plate under the cylinders. Like NOSS was saying, you could cut the clearance into the dome you have, any machine shop with a lathe could do that, but the geometry of the dome wouldn't exactly be right, the spark plug would be real close to the piston but it may work. However, you could use a spacer under your spark plug to fix that issue. I have 18cc 4mm stroker domes (no base plate) cut by NOSS and with my dune porting it only yields 145 psi. I run 110 to be safe (+6 deg adv) but I think I could easily get away with 100.
