Badshee22
I have an 01 Banshee, its bored over one size up from stock, has a cool head, port and pollish, reeds, boost bottle etc. before i did the engine work I changed the stock gearing and went down one tooth on the front sprocket and up one on the rear(Use to a 250R). I run both 10 paddle haulers and sand stars depending on conditions. My bike runs perfect with the exception of its too low geared now and I am having trouble keeping the wheels on the ground. I like to drag race, but I also like to jump and trail ride (on the dunes only) my swing arm is stock, I need some advice on gearing, tires and swing arm length. I also need some clarification on what exactly a -2 swing arm is? Does that mean 2 in shorter or longer?

stclark816
I like 16tooths on mine. If ur bike can pull it, why not gear it a little higher?
.
If you're running sand, you want to go longer, if running dirt you want to go shorter. Sand grabs a heck of a lot harder than dirt.

No complaints and/or regrets. Unless I go drag, I'll never go over stock. Now I run 8paddles vs. 9paddles with my stock arm. I've never tried anything other than a +2 arm, and it wasn't on my quad so I can't talk negative about that at all & won't. It was a nice ride, but not what I was looking for. Just MHO...suits my style of riding.

I've also got a +4 swinger and for my style of riding it's perfect. It can be a bitch at times in tight trails but other than that its a good all around set up. Just my .02 but 10 paddle Haulers may be a bit much for your mods, unless they aren't the Extremes. If they are regular Haulers i'd say you've got a pretty good set up. Don't know what to tell you on the -2, i've never ridden a shee in the sand with one. I would imagine it would be fun though....
ledofthezep
Pretty much what OR said...suits my style. I like to ride technical shit, tight trails, through trees & shit, and I like to air it out here & there. It's very predictable when airborne now & I feel like I have more control over both the banshee & my fate. It's all good, there's nothing better than a banshee in the sand no matter how long or short it is. If possible, try both & see what you think for yourself. Currently I'm running the same gearing I ran with my stock arm: 13:41. That is soon to be changed & is wwwwwaaaaayyy overdue, I'm probably going to go up to a 15 in the front, may come down a tooth in the back...not quite sure yet. It's still much better than before eventhough my gearing has been neglected since I've had my -2 arm.
Justintoxicated
thats the whole fun with a 13 tooth! just lean forward more...lol leaning forward will help alot of course... getting a -2 will make your problem worse Getting a +2 will help alot. Do not get a -2 for sand, if anything run stock over a -2 you will have better controll. I'll tell you that most of your problem is from the 10 paddle haulers. that is WAY to much paddle for a stock/piped banshee, especialy with a stock swingarm!. They will make you wheelie like crazy and slow you down at WOT. I would not like your setup at all...Your problem is probably alot worse when running the haulers huh? you could put the Sand Stars on and get a +2 swingarm and that will help you keep the front end down. Your gearing is also affected by tire size, Trouble with switching to a 14 tooth is that you have too much paddle for a 14 tooth... Better setup is some 7-8 paddle extremes (Probably 7 if your mostly stock) 20-10-10, +2 or +4 swinger (its a bit long at +4 for duing vs drag racing) and keep the 13 onthe front so you can pull 4th gear up the steep side of olds (maybe you can pull it with a 14 on the front but probably won't be going as fast) When you change the length of the Swinger, you also have to have your shock re-valved for the length of the swingarm and your weight. I recomened a place like TCS to do this service. it makes all the difference in the world. The Advantage of running a -2 in the sand is that you will wheelie like a MoFo!
