Hey guys, just put on a noss head with 21 cc domes and a timing plate. elevation is about 1500ft. Have 170lbs compression and planning on 6 degree advance, what octane you think i need to run. Other than the head and timing plate motor is all stock with pt mids and trinity 2-1 carb w/35mm pwk. what's the first sign of not enough octane also. Later

thanks

Yea, I'd run 70/30 or 50/50

Sometimes it's easier for someone else to hear the detonation, like a specatator during a drag race or someone watching while you accelerate hard.

That seems like pretty high compression for 21cc domes. Are you confident with the guage? Stock pistons?

I have a snap-on and a mac guage, both read within 5 psi of each other. Held the throttle wide open and kicked like a mofo. Had 120 with the stock head. The best premium here is 91, you quys think I should be around 100 mixing the pump and premium or higher. I think I can buy 104 here, not worth mixing is it.:notworthy:

I would rather run the straight 104 if it were me. No hassle of carrying two fuels and the higher overall quality of race gas unpolluted by low quality, unstable pump gas. (I doubt I'm the only one who has left pump gas in something too long and had to clean up the results. )
