Guest nightmare
My friend keeps his in a shed. He was afraid it would get stolen so he bought a Bull Mastiff. Pretty big dog. If you can steal that bike you deserve it.
dnhyoung
I've got ins with Foremost ins. for $325 a year with a $250 deductible that covers everything from theft, vandalism, fire, and collision. By the way that is with both an '01 shee valued at $7500, and an '04 grizzly valued at $8500. they just hand me a check minus the deduct... RNBRAD
I went to a specialty insurance co that does 4 wheelers, show/classic cars etc. They told me to get an appraisal value on it so I spent 100 dollars for an appraisal then they wouldn't insure it for the amount. Just for what blue book would be on it as a stock quad. I was pissed and wondered why they needed an appraisal then? Minimum wage workers piss me off, the customer gets what the company pays for. I might not need to buy the extra insurance if I didn't want to, and there is a chance if I can prove what I had on the bike, they would pay a percentage of the aftermarket parts price. They said probably %20-%40. Not too bad for not paying any extra. I can however buy supplimental for above and beyond what I the Kelly or BB value is. dlnoss
When my house was broken into a few years ago, the investigating officer told me (off the record) that thieves will usually steal and drink booze even if it's an open bottle. He suggested having an visible bottle of whiskey that was about half wood alcohol for them to have some fun with. Cruel but fitting.

Nightrider
A gun won't do any good if your not home when it happens and thats usually when theives strike. They watch you, learn your scheduel and hit you when they know you'll be gone.Thieves are not as dumb as you think,an accomplished criminal ranks up there with the geniuses of the world. The reason they eventually get caught is because they get sloppy, not cause their stupid. I got my insurance thru Progressive,2 banshees w/fully coverage 250 deductible and 1,000 in aftermarket parts runs me about$150 a year. squish
I keep mine in an outside storage building and they tried to get it 4 different times. For some reason they couldnt cut the 1/2 inch chain that tethered it to the ground around an inch thick tie down that was 6 feet in the ground with concrete.
