ledofthezep
Clymers said use the correct size pilot bearing puller does anybody know the size? You referring to the ball & rod? Pull your pressure-plate off & undo your clutch cable, pull out the push-lever assembly & tip the quad just a bit & the ball should roll right out. Hope that's what you're referring to & this helps ya...
PUSH THE THROTTLE
Nope Led, my ball and rod are fine. I see where you were mistaken. I
banshee370
That bearing is a huge PITA to take out! The last time I had to do one I had to air chissel it out. I hope your not trying to change this while the motor is together? What happens is the steel liner that holds the needle bearings ends up fusing itself to the aluminum case half. Most pullers like you stated will only make things worse. I replaced one once that I ended up busting it apart with a hammer and screw driver. I doubt you will be able to get it out in one piece. Oh and yes it's all apart every single piece of my engine has been disassembled, anything that looks slightly wrong is getting replaced. banshee370
Well.. your lucky its apart.. and the fact that the outer race is very brittle. You should be able to break it apart easily. good luck! anything that looks slightly wrong is getting replaced. Been there done that.... a few times! I actually enjoy tearing it down from time to time...
