What other mods do you have? Your not going to match that 450's bottom end no matter what you do.

Use Mobil 1 15w-50 in the case. If your getting beat by the 450 it may be the difference in riders and also paddle tire selection plays a significant role in launch and acceleration. This is also assuming your banshee is properly tuned.

Thought I'd chime in here since you probably read something I posted about sizing. It's of my opinion that you need to buy some different sizes and try them to see what happens and what works for you and your riding style. With that said I would gear down possibly to a 13 or maybe just a 14 on front and leave the rear till you decide what you like on the front and then you can fine tune the rear if you're anal. The reason in going to a 13 in my opinion is because of your paddles you have traction, where as if you were running on dirt I think you'd do well with the gearing you have since you'd be traction limited. 450's are fast and you should really get ported if you're going to be racing them. My .02

ok ... i was thinking about a 13-43?? but i'll start with the 13 & go from there...also do i have to buy a new chain also?

Try a 13-41 and go from there, are you able to pull 4th before 1/2 way the steep side of olds?

Also I gueest forcing the 450 to race up the steeper side of the hill (right side) becayse the 450's we be slowing down a little towards teh top and you will still be accelerating.

After my 12-port the 15 pulled gears the same as the 14 in the front stock. However Ia lways liked the 13.

I swapped it to a 14 and it pulls the gears jsut a little easier than with the 13 stock before porting, so Now SI htink I'm going to try a 14-40 and see how that goes I'm thinking 14-40 will be about perfect for olds but also still perfect for china wall.

Takes some practivce but a 15 tooth on a stock she is way to tall IMO for racing up olds. I would go with a 13 you will probably love it. Also what kinda paddles? THe weight and quality of the paddle tire will make a BIG difference.

your too high geared on a stock ported engine. the sand is hard to pull plus your at a 15 frt which i would run in the dirt on a stock bike, not in the sand. 14 or 13 you will have more acceleration, but not top speed.

or get a good port job and you probably will put a 15 frt

The 15 is way to high for hill climbing with paddles. I run a 15-41 all the time but lost to much bottem end for a hill climb with paddles. Most people recommend to help with traction on hard ground without paddles because the shee spins and tacs out to quick with 14-41. So 15-41 on hard ground 14-41 on sand with paddles.

Dang dude, with 20 paddles you should have a lot of different options from choosing tires :D j/k

I would go with the 14 tooth front to start. Its a cheap ($10.00) mod, you cant go wrong.

I ride at glamis and with the motor work you have 13 would be the best start. You need to start the race in second and lean forward when you drop the clutch or you will flip over. After that lean back standing up and that will help you get over the woops better. By the time you are at the base of the hill you should be in 4th gear. A little after the base you should shift into 5th and sit your ass as far back as you can to get the weight over the tires for traction. After that look at your compition falling behind and when you come to the top of the hill sit forward more or you will be doing a quick huge wheelie. By the way when I had the same things done that you have I had 13-42-43 and I weigh 240lbs. Winning at the hill is all about getting over the woops faster than the other guy.
