canyncarvr Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 Anyone using one of these? Like it? Don't? I have one...haven't ridden with it yet. It's basically a lid-full'o-K&N filter. Just snaps in place like the oem lid. Comes with an outerwear and some jets. fyi..K&N says to put in 340s (Mikuni..not DynoJet) with the lid, and move the oem needle clips to #5. Whoa..that's a lot ofchange. I understand that 'more jet' is not due to 'more air'. Carbs run on pressure differentials. Still...could there be THAT much drop in pressure in the box with just the addition of this lid? It's odd that DynoJet's req (stage 3 kit) is their 280 main with NO airbox at all and K&N wants a much bigger jet WITH the airbox in place. Yeah...I understand the different numbering schemes between DJ and Mikuni. Thanks! Quote
wesw Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 i ran my old engine t5 with v force reeds, pro design filter, with no lid ran 340 mains, toomey needle in the 4th clip ran like a top. Quote
05bansh Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 I think its pretty pricey. I rather just run with the airbox off w/outerwears. Quote
bansheecaptain Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 i like mine . i ride alot of trail , so mud and dirt , water and it works good and dont use that jet guide lines they give you, just jet your self Quote
Nighty Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 t5's, boyeson reed petals, K&N in the box + powerlid on the box with the "precharger/outerware" Currently running 360 mains. @ sea level. Quote
sam97 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 I have one, like 3 rides on it. I went up one main size. I run 290s I think, with pc platinums and K&N on a pro flow. By the way, it isn't waterproof, but it does dry out quickly if you bury your shee in the mud. Trust me, I know. Quote
NYCBanshee7 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Just wrap the filter in an Outerwear, Save some $$$$$$ Quote
Justintoxicated Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 I was going to get one but now I don't even have an airbox lol Quote
munkenaround Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 I have one of those too. I added a pipe and now run a 320 main 30 pilot for the winter. I think the jet size difference is that those arent genuine mikuni jets. not to mention k&n sends 1 each of 2 different sizes Quote
liljohn095 Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 all this lid does is add a nother filter it is a rip off the dino proves it dont buy one Quote
richybanshee Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 (edited) What about if you take the airfilter off and just put the K&N lid. Should not this increase airflow and filter the air? Why use 2 filters? Else, just used the K&N filter with outware that goes in the stock location and no lid or use a foam uni filter ... for better filtration and almost the same air flow. decon Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Just wrap the filter in an Outerwear, Save some $$$$$$ 325024[/snapback] yup, they got outerwears for airboxes, cost like 20 bucks Quote
Banshee~ Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Yea wrap a pantie hoes around the K&N and then an outerwares around that....thats all you need. Quote
njbanshee Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 I have one of those lids that i used one day for about an hour. I didn't like the way my bike ran. My bike requires more air. I will sell it if anyone is interested. $50 plus shipping. I paid around $100 for it. Quote
