Building an extended swingarm

Recommended Posts

I'm building an extended swingarm and I was just wondering if I can use all the stock parts off the old one and put on the new one like shock and shock linkage? Do you have to buy an aftermarket shock or can I just get my stock one rebuilt or revalved? I'm also trying to decide if I should go +4 or +6. What chain size would I have to get for +4 or +6?

All of your oem linkage will work fine. Shock revalve may be in order, depending on how much you jump. Try it out and see how it feels. Chain size will be anywhere from around 115 links for a + 4 to a 120 for a +6.

From your mods I'd say stick with the +4.  TCS can revalve/spring a stock rear shock for $450 or so...makes a world of difference.

$450 is way to much to rebuild the shock. check with your local repair shops and see what they charge. rebuilding a shock isnt like porting, almost everyone will do it the same so you dont have to worry about who is better just go for the cheapest price and a guarantee never hurts either.
