ANYONE HEARD OF NAMURA PISTONS

HI I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYBODY HAS HEARD OF NAMURA PISTONS AND IF SO HOW GOOD ARE THEY. IM USED TO WISECO BUT IT SEEMS THE NAMURA PISTONS ARE ALL OVER EBAY FOR AROUND 130.00 FOR A KIT. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS JERRY

I ran a set of Namura pistons.

 

I did a port job for a guy who also decided to try them. His lasted about 2 days before the exhaust side cracked in half and grenaded his engine.

 

I babied mine, they lasted about 6 months. When I went to do rings, I found both of them, cracked down the intake bridges.

 

I'm not suggesting they aren't a quality product.

 

I just won't use them any more.

Namura pistons are cast. Stock pistons are cast. Namura, may very well not have as stringent as a regulation as the place that makes the stock pistons. Ify ou have a stock engine, you wll probably not have a problem. BUT, when you factor in mods, it is a crap shoot. I will NOT use a Namura piston. It's just simply not worth it. They are proven to crack. They are not as reliable as a forged piston, such as a Wiseco. Now, with a forged piston, it will expand faster than the cylinder wall will when the engine is cold. So, care must be taken to make sure the engine is warmed up before you go beating the balls off it. With a cast piston, you can fire it up, and go riding. (not that I Would anyways, just food for thought..)

If you are looking for a cheaper set of pistons, look at Pro-X. They are cast and are cheaper, but I have had good luck with them. I haven't ran them in a banshee, but they are all I'll put in a 250R and I have used them in 4 strokes.

I use Pro-X also. I have never had a single problem with them. I feel they are the best cast pistons as wiseco makes the best forged ones.

I've heard of them,but never used them.When it comes to pistons,you'll never go wrong with Wiseco.

I disagree with your statment about Vito's pistons.I've ran Vito's pistons in two different motors with out any complants.What problems have you had with them.

Fu^k Namura I had 2 bad experiences with them, an also my friend.

The space from the top ring to the begining of the crown of the piston is small an they do brake on the exhaust side, an there soft.

There magnum products an made in a third world country.

Magnum cranks suck too an Vitos crank is the same thing as the Magnum.

Just incase you were thinking of getting a $350.00 crank
