twin-to-win
Well, sounds like an air leak to me too. If you've checked the topend, then I would have to say the culprit very well could be the crank seals. I've seen the exact same thing happen to an LT250R and guess what happened when we took the magneto cover off....the crank seal was mangled and fell out. The funny, well not so funny, thing is my buddy couldn't kill the motor just like you said so he had to pull the coil off the plug. Lit him up like a Christmas tree! Good luck. Oilsmoke
Vito the bolts that hold the six clutch spring are very soft and only need alittle bit of torque to hold them or thay will snap off. You need to remove the screw with a needle nose vise grip if you have enough of the screw sicking out. If not you need a easy out.
Capone
I'll use an easy out... I think there was a typo in a post, 20$ a bolt? wtf. I'll goto lowes and get it for 20cents.. I just had the seals replaced on the crank, by a reputable(sp) guy.
Capone
AT LAST AN ANSWER! After this problem happening, I realized the clutch springs were too tight, I think thats what cause it to jump gear. Reassembled clutch, torque'd properly. I tied a piece of hose to the spark plug wires incase it started the reving again and the kill switches didn't work for some reason... it stuck again, pulled plug wires, it was still reving! And now for the kicker! Something me & all you guys looked over ---- After chatting with my dad, I told him about my domes, and how my wiseco's are taller and my bike makes around 180psi of compression. He said "desiel's fire from shear compression, no spark, sure its not firing just from high compression?" and thats when I realized, * higher octane fuel! * I'm usin 99 oct now, must not be high enough, also I noticed when it was running on its own, it had a very weird sound, no pinging in the pipes, just a buzz sound, very weird. that must be because the explosion wasn't the same as with a spark plug! HA! I have yet to test this theory with 110 or 115 octane, because I'm thinking about changing domes to 20's... tell me what you guys think! SuperChris
If you ever have a motor that won't shut off when you kill the ignition, Preignition should be your first susspect. The Wiesco's shouldn't make any diff in compression, unless they are for a bigger bore. 180 LBS is a lot for pump gas. I would suggest inspecting your domes and piston tops for damage. Capone
The Wiesco's shouldn't make any diff in compression, unless they are for a bigger bore. I was using vito's which are shorter than wiseco's, it seems like the tops of the pistons almost touch the head, its very very close.... BRIAN BANSHEE
it's quite possible your engine was detonating, my friends acura integra did the same thing because there was an air bubble in the cooling system and it kept revving and revving, his engine didn't pop though. a higher compression would deffinetly cause detenation, the air wsould get so hot as to combust actually burning the fuel before there was ever a spark, so running a higher octane fuel should clear the problem for you, or at least help you.
