Sorry about another clutch question

I have installed a new clutch on my 97 banshee, and had to rip it back down 4 more times because the clutch keeps getting lose. The center shaft will loosen up after a couple of minutes with the shee running. Is it possible to put loctite on the shafts threads to hold it in the same position? I have adjusted it to point everytime, but it just will not stay. :angry: I really need to get this fixed cause I am suffering from a shee withdrawl.

Do you mean on the big nut in there that holds the clutch on? It should have a washer with some tabs on it that will keep it from loosening, I sheared that off one day while riding and my clutch unscrewed and fell off. I wouldn't think loctite would hurt anything but I'd get that washer with the tabs on it.

Thanks for the reply. I was talking about the shaft with the phillips head to adjust the clutch. It has a nut on it that stays stationary in the pressure plate as you adjust it. It slides in the hole in the nut that holds the boss clutch on. As you turn it with a phillips head screwdriver to adjust the clutch, the nut stays stationary either pushing the pressure plate out, or letting the spring nuts pull it in After I set my clutch and put it back together, When the clutch turns, it is making the nut become loose. Making my clutch feel as though the cable has been disconnected. Should the nut stay in place by itself, or is loctite the normal procedure when installing a new clutch.

Make sure you put the rod in first then the ball. The ball should be rubbing the adjuster.. like a ball bearing. Grease the pushrod, ball and hole that you are putting them into. Make sure you tighten the retaining nut really really good. Sounds like it's just not tight enough. YOu can use blue loctit if you wanted too.

Thanks man, I'm going out to the shop now to rip this damn case cover off again for the fith time. I am pretty good with a wrench, I can't believe i've had this much trouble with a simple clutch install. I have a 10 second mustang gt, that I built from stock by myself. I thought I was the man when I installed the new clutch, adjusted it, topped the fluids off, and had her running in less than an hour. Goes to show you that haste makes waste. I just found this site. Pretty nice. Thanks for your help everyone.
