Polishing clutch cover...

Recommended Posts

Hey yall, I got a new Dremel and I just went crazy polishing shit all over my house. I think I got the techniqe down. So I have a stock clutch cover and I figure hey, I'll sand this black shit off and polish it. I did a samll portion inside the spot where the insert goes so that if it looks like ass, no one will see it. Well, it looks pretty damn good. So my question is, will this fuck anything up? Like, will it rust all over or anything? Prolly a noob question but hey, help a brotha out. Thanks.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade at all but using a dremel to polish your cover will take a LOOOOOONG time. I started to do mine and gave up and bought an air compressor and die grinder....made life so much easier!! I agree with NYUK, it won't rust up but will definitely require a frequent polishing to keep the shine. I try and polish mine after every couple rides. After you do the initial polishing you won't need to bust out the dremel or die grinder again, just buy some Mother's Billet polish and get a 100% cotton towel and do it to it. Works awesome

Don't use a dremmel to polish it, well you can but it will not look near as good as it would with a bigger wheel. The small wheel will streak the aluminum instead of giving it an even surface shine. Small pieces you would never notice, but you will notice it on the clutch cover.

Just one bit of advice, if you can't hold your dremmel without wearing gloves because its getting too hot, your burning up the motor. If you let it run at high rpms for a minute or so under no load it will cool itself down pretty fast, but heats up fast under a heavy load too. I've burned up a couple. banghead

Werd. I'll clean it up good & maybe polish some things, but if nothing else just to help mud & shit not stick as bad and make it easier to clean next time.

My PC's are going to start looking really shitty if my boots keep melting on them. banghead But when they get bad enough for me to give a shit, I'll just get them Ceramic coated. :shrugani::cheers:
