Blaster 240 Big Bore

Recommended Posts

Ok one of my friends is going to put the big bore kit from vitos in his Blaster.  Does any body have any experience with this?  Is it worth the money?  The add claims up to 29HP improvement.  Any info appreciated, thanks.

I have heard that it makes the Blaster fast enough to beat a 250r. I'd go for it if I had a Blaster.

The kit they sell with the new head and cylinder is better, but if you use the resleave kit they sell, have them install it and do the porting. Without a good port job when the sleeves are installed you will only get partial benefit of the big bore. My wifes old blaster got the sleeve kit installed locally and they just port matched the ports in the cylinder to the ports in the sleeve (which are biger) and it was an improvement but not nearly as good as it should have been. Also the head has to be machined to accomodate bigger bore, you can have it machined for whatever compression/fuel you want to run at that time which makes a big difference in low end torque. Another huge improvement to the kit is to add 2mm stroker crank and appropriate porting, no case trenching with 2mm stroker. If done right it will match stock 250r power output. Bigger carb and v-force will help too. I would have done a lot of things different if I was to do it over again.

Thanks for the info I'll pass it on to him especially the info on which kit to buy since he was going to go the cheaper route and resleeve it locally. I didn't even think about needing the head machined and I doubt he would have either. It'd be nice if he could actually force me to put a little effort into racing against him when he gets done.

Believe it!!! My girl had that set up on her old blaster with a toomey B-1 and the bike felt like it had double the power. Front wheels never stayed on the ground which caused my girl to become a better rider!! Well Worth it, just my 2 cents!

Push the throttle

Vito's unfortunatley is not the most popular kit with the "blaster" guys. Although they have a complete "240 kit" it'seem to be moderatly designed and porting/head improvements need to be made to get the full potential of the kit. By the time you buy the kit for $600.00 and then have somebody/them make the improvements your just as well have somebody 240 sleave/port your cylinder or look for other 240 kits available.IMO the Vito's kit is a down and dirty/cheap alternative to the" 240 " fad but lis produced to provide the CC's without the timley /cost of conventional porting.I don't think as other it is the best for the buck but it is well advertised and available.

CT-Sonic 240 kit is probably one of the most sought out/performance kit optional to someone not using their local builder and wants a bolton/complete kit. This kit/company uses a "250r" design cylinder/port/intake design transplanted to the blaster. Its is well known and proved and gets great rave. It produces 41rwh and they should have the claim to "250R" stomping horsepower.

I don't have either kit but have had the chance to look at both products. I mean no harm to the Vito's product/people and they have marketed/targeted a certain part of the market and I think the person thats looking for price availabilty it works.. and for the person looking for max performance, price the local builder or CT-Sonic is a better option. There are a few other 240 kits also.

My little brother has that done with a uni filter bigger carb (not sure what size) milled head, and it kicks the crap out of 400exs, z400s, other blasters, and keeps up with my banshee, i would say get it cause its pretty fast, but nothing like a banshee.
