Building our first Alcohol dragger

Recommended Posts

OK guys we TEXWS6 and I have had a banshee that has been setting in the shop waiting to be brought to life, and we already have our dune machines where we want them, so we have decided to build an alcohol dragger. I have never ran alcohol, and I know there are certain head mods, carb mods you have to do, but no one will spill the beans locally about what exactly is needed to run alcohol. Any help would be appreciated, I know there are some serious drag racers out there just waiting to help out!!!

Thanks,

Kevin

you can run alcohol in any motor.. you just need to have carbs set up for it cus alcohol burns twice as fast.. you will need a pingel valve for the tank too for the mass amount of fuel you will be burning... and after you ride it you have to purge the system cus alcohol will mess alot of stuff up if it sits in the carb ... thats all i know....

Yeah I know pretty much pipes, swingarm, tires, porting, etc... But what I wanted to know where exact mods to your carbs and head, compression, when running alcohol, but I did a search and found a bunch of what I was looking for. Thanks for the tips, and keep them coming.

Basically the things you are asking are case specific. You can essentially run as high of compression as you want. The carbs needs to be able to flow about twice as much air and fuel as a stock setup, compared to a stock gas set up. Some sort of aftermarket ignition is also a must, be it a PVL, Dynatek, or MSD, etc.

To add to a previous post, the reason you purge alcohol systems when they sit is not because it messes anything up, its because it absorbs a alot of moisture out of the air and yields itself impotent after a very short period of time.

it is very dry and will rot out all the rubber seals and everything.. carb won't move if you live alki in it... seen it happen several times....also it leaves like white film or dust everwhere which is what draws moisture and is still very dry...evaporates really fast too...
