trailboss250
Well, i found out that my uncle that i never met welds for a living. I already have many many blaster parts. I am thinking about building a blaster with a different motor! But anyways, i have searched alot and found alittle bit. What motor would you put in the frame? I am thinking about getting something thats air cooled. So can you help me throw around some ideas here? I plan on Some MX racing and Wide open riding. Ok, i have seached and searched for a DT200 topend..So forget about that. I dont really care about vibration, i mean i do, but it doesnt really bother me. I plan on putting some really heavy guessets on the frame. How about any couterbalanced engines? Looks like i am going to guesset the frame, line up the sproket, make new motor mounts, custom pipe. And maybe stetch the aarms? Or maybe extend the S-arm. YFS, in alother thread said look for engines like this: IYamaha WR250, YZ/WR250F, TT-R250, CRF/XR250R, XR400. I also found this link: http://www.macdizzy.com/yfsyz.htm Also, i dont want to strech the frame. And also i want kickstart. Any pictures would also be a good help, thanks. The parts i have right now are: Gas tank Swingarm 3 aarms Rear axle and hubs-And brake disk Handlebars, throttle, brake lever and clutch lever, engine kill switch. Front hubs Rear rims. Yea i know i need lots of parts But i think i can do it: I need Lower left aarm Axle carrier Rear tires Front tires and rims Seat. plastic Engine, carb, airbox Im not gonna hook up front brakes, only rear, so i need to make some custom rear brakes foot pegs Cant think of much else at the moment. sp1tekiller
YZ250F motor. Or possibly a YZ125.
KGL
I'd look for an IT/DT 250 motor , they are similar to the stock motor and could be passed off as such... hee hee you may have to play with gearing a bit as they are bike motors. The ultimate would be an older YZ 490 motor (air cooled/kick start) shoehorn it in there and extend your swinger! This however will require 2 more modifications: a velcro seat cover and riding pants- and a bucket to hold the tears of the people you waste- good luck , and remember... stock is for soup. ellison445
I got a blaster project going myself, I was able to fit a 500cc 2 stroke motor in it. I am almost done and the pics will be up in 1 month. I will PM you with what motor I used. Edited February 2, 2005 by ellison445

locogato11283
you get too much power in that thing and the frame isnt gonna hold together. i would stay away from big bore singles. they vibrate too much for that frame..smooth revving 4 stroke or smaller single cylinder 2 stroke would be best. YZ125 possibly a 250.
rocketboy
yamahas tz 250 sport bike motor parallel twin revs to 13000 when modded competaitve withmuch largercc four stroke bikes small light weight liuid cooled dont put anything under 125cc in it, youll fry that clutch and its hard on em to put sucha load on small tranny even a bigger dirtbike tranny is not beefy enough sometimes for quad applications. On second thought, I would advise against the YZ125. Try finding a YZ250F thumper motor, or, if not a YZ250 motor.
