34 pj + stock air box= cutting?

I just got my 34 pj's in the mail today and I notice that they are huge compared to the stockers. I am still waiting for my manifold from Passion. My question is do I have to trim anything from the stock air box to get these to fit. I know there wasnt much room with the stock carbs before, so I'm guessing some modification has to be done. I was also wondering about the clutch, is that clutch thing going to hit the left carb float bowl? My manifold wont be here until monday so I cant go install everything yet, I was just eyeballing things. Any input from someone who has done this would be greatly appreciated. Once again the set up is, 34 pj's, passion intake manifold, upp boots, stock air box. TIA

My 34mm mikunis fit on the airbox in the stock location with a bilit manifold but it was virgin pussy tight. It probably wouod have helped a lot to trim 1/2" off the air box runners. I wen't to foam pod filters, made life sooo much easier, jetting goes way quicker, and a $15 bracket to relocate the bottle. Bend the clutch arm a little if needed and possibly file a little bit off of the hex nut on the botom of the carb if needed. I think the boss manifold is supposed to be angled to help big carbs clear the clutch arm so you'll probably be ok.

I just notched my rear fenders a little so the coolant bottle can go back. I bent my rear tabs for the air box back and no longer use the front ones. Works fine. I also had to cut some of the front of the air box where the boots go on. I left just enough for the boots to clamp onto, then I had to cut the boots to shorten them up...you'll see when you get the manifolds...Like Rod said, we all have our rigs...

If you cut down some 2 inch rubber plumbing adaptors, you can pretty much leave the box in place. I prefer to run at least 2.5 inch rubber couplers in length on back of the bigger carbs when box is being used..in that case, you can zip-tie the box in place and it works fine. The intake you ordered will let even the biggest carbs clear the clutch arm with ease....Jim
