jasonsb
I run a mild port motor with stock carbs and Toomey T5 pipes. I'm getting bored with the power. I ride the dunes and drag race for fun. I want to have more port work done and run bigger carbs. Is it worth the money to buy CPI pipes? I don't want to spend $550 + on new pipes just to gain 5 horsepower or so. Can a race motor run well with T5 pipes without making a switch to in frame drag pipes? Does anyone have experience with making the switch?
wesw
i know loco went form t5 to rockets, which are close to cpi, he said that they out pulled the t5. might pm him about it
richybanshee
Probably you can do more porting on the shee before spending the $550 on new pipes. I f you plan on going big and gaining more hop at top end, then maybe it could be a good idea to switch to better flowing pipes, like CPI or Rockets, or Shearer or any other proven brand. At one time I saw an article on DirtWheels: Banshee had 1. K&N filter 2. T5's 3. Port job and head mod (155 psi) by MissionYamaha 4. Running VP fuel 5. VForce Delta Reed cages HP = 59 Torque = Do not remember Edited December 23, 2004 by richybanshee
Indubitably
I made the switch over the summer and gained power everywhere. CPI's are the shit try pickin up a set on ebay. I got some basically new ones for 400 bucks
jasonsb
Yeah, I hear that CPI pipes are the shit too...but I saw an old post that showed a dyno chart with different pipes. I don't remember the details...I think the motor was a 370. The T5 pipes had like 68 hp and the CPI pipes had about 72.

Toomey Banshee
My son has the 99 with T-5's, stock except for cool head, V-Force and few other things, runs real good, I have a 94 with porting, 33's and a few other things along with CPI's. The CPI's are awesome. Put it this way, if and when I get another Shee, its gonna start out with CPI's and I'm gonna build the bike around them. Great pipes. They are black with polished silencers. I put new packing. Instead of chroming them, I might sell them and use the extra money to buy CPI. Sell $

Minkia38
rockets are CPIs are very similar, and we switched a T5 banshee over to Rockets, and the difference was incredible. I can't believe Toomey has so much business with the pipes...

I used to run a set of T5's and was very pleased with them (I'm running Shearers now) I have zero experience with the rockets but many seem pleased with their performance. Clue us in here. Again I'm not trying to discout you or the product you represent, just looking for information. Thanks!
