master chief Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 how do you guys set up your banshees for trail riding ? i want to get one soon and i will be riding trails and fields with it , maybe a little racing , but i want to be able to get through the trails with no problems, thanks Quote
bansheecaptain Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 (edited) start with putting a k&n air filter, then if you want trail riding you probable want paul turner pipes and that will get you started .. oh and take the air box vent tobe off Edited December 19, 2004 by bansheecaptain Quote
decon Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 if your going to be riding in the dirt, i would have to say a pro design foam filter kit over a k&n. fmf fatty's are real good pipes, with an affordable price. yea i would agree that paul turner midrange pipes are the best for low-mid , but if u dont have a big budget then i wouldn't get them, fatty's will perform good enough. for more low end, get the Trinity CV single carb setup w/ a 35mm carb. you can get your head milled to increase your compression, or get an aftermarket head. if you looking to get more traction, you can get your stock swingarm shortened -2 by Quicksand Motorsports, it will hook up more in the dirt. if you dont like the stock banshee suspension, some aftermarket shocks should help out. If you're running a stock/close to stock engine, the 33mm kit would perform better for you. Quote
richybanshee Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Reliability and Performance: 1. K&N filter with air filter adapter (any brand) 2. a. Pipes for low end to mid power => Paul Turner or FMF Gnarlys b. Low end with better midrange hit => FMF Fatty, FMF SST, Procircuit, some say DMC or Toomey TR6 c. mid to top end => Toomey T5 Any of this pipes is a lot better than stock. With just this two mods you will be doing okay. Reliability will not be a problem. Maybe the most difficult thing is to choose the brand of pipe you think is best for the type of ridding you will do. Other mods you can do: 3. Timming plate set to +3 degrees 4. Cool Head with 21 cc domes (This will shift the power curve for more low end power by adding compression) Quote
decon Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 i heard kenda klaws are real good tires. and about the cv, i would get a 35 if he is planning on getting porting, like some trail porting. most likely he should get the air filter and pipes first, would the 35 perform good with that? bansheecaptain Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 since your not looking to spend that much money just mill your head alot cheaper then buying a noss or anything like that mill costs around 50bucks and talk to booman and get hime to do your flywheel too , great mod for trails and cheap too ., Quote
master chief Posted December 21, 2004 Author Report Posted December 21, 2004 yea all i really plan on doing is filter and pipes and tires , I was also looking at the cool head with 22cc domes, i live right on the water in maine , im like 1 foot above see level , lol , i heard if you dont have it jetted properly you will foul plugs and melt pistons all the time , does any1 no what the perfect jetting would be for my area . i no some1 on this forum has got to be from maine and could help , thanks guys Quote
superchicken Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 if you want the filter plate i got one sitting in my garage.its a proflow billet plate with the foam filter and prefilter pm me if interested Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 i heard if you dont have it jetted properly you will foul plugs and melt pistons all the time , does any1 no what the perfect jetting would be for my area . i no some1 on this forum has got to be from maine and could help , thanks guys 295856[/snapback] The problem with asking for perfect jetting is that most of the time no two Banshees will jet exactly the same even with the same mods. I've told you before that you won't foul plugs and melt pistons as long as your jetted reasonably close, spot on is hard to get. Jetting is not that hard and you can read the jetting FAQ for all the help you'll need, everybody will gladly help here too if you have questions. But until you actually get a Banshee it's going to be very hard to help you jet it. Quote
jumpcuts Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 Did you pick up a banshee yet? I ride all along the Penobscot River -- Milford,ME which is like 130 ft. above and up to West Enfield,ME which is like 160 above -- but that's only in the summer time, past 2 summers. I ride my sled up there in the winter. Where in Maine are you?? BTW...instead of spending $5500 on a new shee, then you're gonna put another $2000+ into it....you might want to look into buying like a 98-02 with mods and what have you...for much less. Or maybe buy a frame and build from scratch to what you want for $6K. Quote
