Ride Time

Now that the babes have been tamed I thought we could all blow the cobwebs off some good ridin stories and get a new thread goin. This time of year is hard for those of us who want to ride so the next best thing is to knock back a beverage and tell stories.

Last summer was a good season for me. The wife improved by leaps and bounds and from time to time was pushing the pace on me a little, which just made me smile. But of course, newbies, even when they are doing well still have a bit of a learning curve so let me set the stage.

riding in Florence working on some gnarly tree shots along the lagoon/lake depending on who you ask. She had beend doing well and got stuck on one of those hills with about 4 swith backs. Now when she gets stuck (she is 125 riding a Raptor) I get her unstuck. she must have burried out 10 times before she finally said she was done, (Thank God cause I was to the point I couldn't pull that pig out anymore). She marched to the top of the hill from the half way point and I was going to show everyone how it was done.

Now, she had torn the hell out of the hill. about 3 clear spots where she had just turned the sand into a rutted powder mess. My first run was not so good so I get back to the base, determined not to be beat by this hill. I picked my line, got a good 2nd gear start and just let that thumper, well thump. I could feel the front getting light but I was so close I just kept the throttle on (see where this is going don't ya).

Well being the arrogant Motorcycle MX rider I think I am I just thought I would give her a little break tap to bring the front down. Up she came, tap the break, stahl the motor, my wife and ten of our closest friends clearly hear my last words before the bike said "FU, I am goin' to ride your ass back down this hill and see how you like it". In that silent moment with everyone watching in slow motion, my words were the classic , "Oh Shit" followed by ugh, ouch damn and "STOP THE BIKE".

Lucky for me the bike did not hit the water and we both walked away a relatively unhurt. It made for great campfire talk that night though. I can't wait for summer, or even just a break in the weather.

Ride on Guys!!

RJV

PS: I did ride out on that hill the next run up to try and redeem myself. But the damage was done :rotflmao:

haha, that sucks. might as well add my own. i was at a sand pit here in NJ and it was only my friends and 2 other riders there. it was the second time ever riding the shee, but the first time jumping it. me and my other friend, us by the way the only 2 banshee riders there, decide to go up this HUGE hill and when you get to the top it almost goes verticle. my cousin on a raptor was too scared :P so being the nice guy i am i let him go first, he goes up nice and just has enough speed to get to the top. me being the badass i am is in 3rd pinned at the bottom of the hill. all i can remember is just feeling like a rocket shooting up the hill. little did i know there was a guy on a dirtbike coming across the top of the hill. you could not see down the hill from the top so he had no idea i was rocketing up. now at the top i friggin lauch up about 10 feet in the air and just fly over the kid on the dirtbike. who says banshees cant fly??!! i landed real smooth too. the guy on the dirtbike and I were just like "holy shit, that was friggin awesome!!" my cousin who saw it said it looked just like a movie. the moment i saw the guy he was just about under me, it felt like it took 5 minutes for me to come down, it was one of those moments were life just slows down and your thinking how screwed you are. he got damn lucky i was on a banshee or else i would have trampled his ass with a big old heavy 4 stroke. Good times....god times
