Holyman
I finally got a round carrier like I always wanted with the tapered bearings. But I am going to need a billet axle nut. I've seen them go anywhere from $10 to $80. Is there one that's better than the others?

dlnoss
Before I bought a CNC Lathe, I farmed turning work out and had a bunch of these made. I'd sell them to BHQ members for $30 each + shipping. They have a 4130 ring on the inside so the aluminum won't get chewed up.
Holyman
4130 ring for what? Are the threads 4130? Does it have 1 lock bolt or 2?
locogato11283
me and my brother both have one of noss's locknuts and so far they work excellent. no problems whatsoever
dlnoss
The 4130 ring is on the 'pressure' surface since the aluminum is relatively soft. It has one bolt.

SDD
I like the stainless steel one Duncan racing makes. I just don't like the price.
Meat
Here's my experience, take it for what its worth... but I had one of those alloyspecialties locknuts and couldnt keep the focker tight. Your not supposed to tork em down against the sprocket hub so tight that you bind up the axle, according to alloy specialties directions. You gotta get the nut tight enough so the sprocket hub won't rock back and forth on the axle splines, but loose enough that it doesnt bind the axle. Your supposed to lift the ass end off the ground and the axle should spin freely and the sprocket hub is nice and tight on the splines. Easy enough.............. then one day I notice my sprocket hub moves back and forth on the splines... just a little play.... but it wasnt cool. So I loosen the two allen heads on the axle nut and it turns in pretty good, stopped the sprocket hub from rockin' and the axle spinnin' freely. Check it again in a few week and same thing happens. Sprocket hub loose on the splines. So I re-tighten it again and wrap electrical tape on the axle threads at the axle nut. POS came loose again. I took it off and put on a LoneStar nut and havent had a problem since. The LSR nut is built similar to the Alloy Specalites nut... I don't know why I had problems with the AS nut, but its not my problem anymore, I sold it on Ebay a few months ago. FYI, Im using a LSR axle, and a billet LSR sprocket hub.
