04ShEeLE
I know people have asked about tires but I want to know about tire size up front. I have read a lot of you guys run a 22/7/10, but i have heard that some run a smaller one up front 20/7/10, which is better, and what are the advantages? Just want to find out before I by my next set. Chris
banshee76179
I beleive tha smaller tire up front is for more for racing MX or XC,,, But, I would also think of a clearance issue also..just me though.. Chris
BigRed350x
The smaller tire is more efficient for times when you are in the air a lot, IE motocross/supercross. The smaller tire will give your overall vehicle LESS rotational velocity as a whole. Larger front tire will give you a HIGHER rotational velocity. Since MX riders want to do as little movement and exert as little energy as possible, its easier to maneuver a vehicle in the air with a smaller rotational velocity than one with a higher. Same kind of idea as when you want to nose down in the air, you hit the rear brakes. You are taking energy out of the rear tires and applying it to the entire vehicle, thus forcing the nose down in the same direction of rotation as the rear tires. If you run smaller front tires there is less "spinning" energy on the front of the vehicle, making it easier to maneuver in the air. I feel like the larger tires give me a little better control in the sand, and when I am jumping my shee on my track I will put on both smaller front a rear tires. Rear tires size goes more towards gearing and traction though.

04ShEeLE
and what did you do with the rear tire size
sredish
I run 22x7x10 fronts. The 20s are for mx. I race xc and like to have good clearance up front and the larger diameter help it climb over holes, through stuff and float through mud. I've thought about getting 23s but they're so damn big. locogato11283
and what did you do with the rear tire size 288265[/snapback] i always run 20 inch rears. usally 1 inches wide on a 9 inch rim. sometimes i run them 10 inches wide. just depends on what im feelin like buying and what sizes they offer them in. Banshee17Racing
I run 20x6x10's in the front(Razr MX). I about shit when I saw how small they were compared to the stock fronts. Just took a little getting used to. I have 18x10x8's in the rear. I usually ride MX, some trails. But the 20's turn so much easier in the corners, especially with 10psi in 'em, no more tire roll. If you do a lot of general riding, I'd get a 21" tire.
BigRed350x
i have a set of 22" maxxis razrs that I toss between my 350x and the shee. 22" rear tires with a 13x40 runs fine for me on hardpack dirt roads and hay fields. tends to bog down a little if you do any kind of long hill climb. I run a 20" paddle in the sand with the same gearing and love it. i don't do many races or that kinda thing, I just do short steep hills at walden, so the lower gearing is good for what I do. more power.
