kartracer92
Interesting- My son has raced shifter "karts" sence he was a young boy and once a year (wiconsin) we iced raced for a charity event.Over the years we used our slicks with ice picks and variable snowmobile pics with some sucsess but the best set-up we ever had was something we came up with our-selfs and there was a nite and day difference between it and the pics. We used number 35 chain ( farm supply) and every other link incerted a 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 fluted masonary nail , linked the chain together and put it around the tire and bolted it to the tire in various places using the open link with head on the inside and locknut on the outsid. Lined the tire with a rubber matting and used a tube and blew up the tire till the chain was rock hard on the tire. We would use multiple wraps on the rear tires. It was an amazing traction advantage There was no flex compared to the ice picks rolling over and ripping out. food for thought Jeff

FORMULASPEED
I was out on it the day after Christmas. They had the drag lanes set up by Buds there was about a dozen sleds a handful of quads an a few bikes an of course a shit load of Ice fisherman. I stayed in the Marsh an started dialing in my motor. The few warm/rain days we had days later ruined it. New years day my friend came over just put his stator in an started buggn to go out there. So we spudded the ice 8inches a little farther down spudded it again 8inches. So we decided to mess around in the marsh cause I new the bay wasnt good. Well I take off start haulin get about a 1/2 mile past anchor bay drive on M29 an then bam right over the handle bars head first in 3ft of water. The shee flipped over upside down in the water. Cars started lockin them u, are you Ok? are you ok? Yeah Im fine my buddys about a mile that way can you tell him Im down. She speeds away Im throwin off my coats emptying my boots Im startin to stiffn up so I jump back in the water to get the shee an with a rush I get that SOB out but shit Im stuck in a foot of muc, an water to my waist from sinking trying to pull her out . Well I got out choked the shee an it fired right up. The lady comes back an tells me my friend is coming moments later he pulls up we load it up an were gone. Aint nothin like a nice cool dip. I figured Id share my experiance. Now i cant wait till its good to go again. How does the Black river look? havent been up to Port Huron lately Edited January 6, 2005 by FORMULASPEED

Southside Motorsports
the ice on the black river buckled during that big thaw so there is no ice on the river at all now which really blows.....I doubt if it will even freeze this winter now unless we get some really cold weather for a couple weeks in a row . ssjgoku419
I race on a 3.1 mile grand prix ICE course and a 1/8 mile drag course all winter in Alaska (winter is 9 months a year). I turn real good times draggin with cheng shin ice tires w/ 440 ice screws in each rear tire. I use the same tires to race tt and i toss about 15 screws a day (about 50 laps). I have treid all the other combos and have the best et's with straight JL ice screws on cheng shin's.
