ledofthezep
hey led when you get the kota??? looks just like my bro's that he traded in for the liberty you seen at sandfest..lol 287249 It's an '02, I bought it in 02 new, with 4miles on it from the dealer. Got 34k on it now...check engine light just came on the other day, nothing is wrong though...frigg'n dealers & their little computers. Getting new tires soon, just need to figure out what size & shit I want. How's your bro liking the liberty?
Ducman
Now this topic is Ironic....I was searching for 'truck tires' for my dak on a dakota forum, check back on the HQ & see this thread. Weird...anyway, maybe someone here can help me out. Anyone know the biggest tire that I can run on my stock 15's on my 2wd dak without rubbing? Looking to set the truck up a bit higher(right now if I leave my receiver insert in the truck it will hit the ground backing out of drives & passing low road intersections ). Shoulda just stuck with my old full size 4x4 durge with the 5.9. I'm thinking about trying some 31X10.5R15 's...any suggestions on brand and/or where to get a good deal? 286839 I had a 4" lift on a Ranger I use to own. I liked the Bridgestone Duelers alright, got +50K miles out of them. I liked the Yokahama Goleander AT better, nice quite ride and more traction. The Goleander MT's are a little more agressive, never tried them though but they are supposed to be good. Led - the 31x10.5x15 worked just fine on my stock 15" ranger rims even though the tire shop said they wouldn't recomend that size.. If they clear the bodywork they will work. Measure the clearence with the tires you have now and you should be able to figure it out. They had a pretty good "buldgy" sidewall look but cornering on the road was still pretty good. On my eclipse if you disconnect the battery and let the system discharge for a couple seconds it clears the computer back to original settings and clears the error codes that cause warning lights. If they are BS codes they typically dont come back. I have bought all my tires in the last 5 years from http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.do They have free shipping on all tires and they don't seem to raise their price to compensate. You will save $150 over your local tire stores best price. Their shipping is FAST too, UPS ground but it goes out the same day. Tirerack.com is my next chiose for tire buying online. Costco has the duelers at a decent price + warrenty.
ledofthezep
Thanks a lot for the info Ducman. I think I'm going to go with these... Yokohama Geolandar HTS One tire, three different applications in this new breed of light truck/SUV tire. LT235/75R-15/C1 104Q http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?cs=235&pc=44527&rd=15&ar=75 Anyone ever had these b4? Ducman
I'd probably go with the 265/75/15 they are the size that comes stock on most compact 4x4 pu's. 235's might be better for your 2wd though.

I wouldn't hesitate to try em, other than they're a little to "sissy" for me.... j/k led. Price is right yo!
bansheetimes2
I'd go with the Nitto's. I have them on my truck and they provide some great traction. Here's a link for them where they are $112.00/piece. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/f...204&rd=17&ar=70 The wear rating is incredible at 500 and works well in mud, pavement, grass, snow. I also plow with my truck and they work great. As for ice they aren't as good as a studded tire, but then again I don't know of any tires that are great on ice unless they are studded. I drive my truck alot on main roads, usually put 25,000 a year because I have a pretty long commute to work and I really needed a tire that I could plow with and that I wouldn't have to change every 10,000 miles because they were worn out. The latest test was about 10 inches of mud while I was hunting that I had to drive through for about 200 ft. Of course I was in 4wd but they gripped really well. I looked at them also, however, they don't have the size available that I need. The Yoko's will get me by until I can afford to lift it a bit & get new wheels/tires them. boonman
goodyear mt/r is the best all around truck or jeep tire there is. 287061 Maybe for the driveway... 287087 wait .... what did you recommend oh ya the wild country ....ha 287188 Are you kidding me? You ever run Wild country's? The radial RVT's that I recommended? I will put those tires up against any BFG made, except a KO. This gentleman was inquiring about a tire with good road manners, good treadwear, and just a general all around goot tire. BFG's are not that. They have sucked in every situation imaginable. Aside from the KO series. They are good. Go throw a set of BFG's on your rig, drive it for 50,000 miles, and see what kind of steel belts you wil be riding on at the end of their life. Because that is all that wil be left. And yet, a set of Wild Country's will still be purring down the highway. And still be getting better traction. In anythying you're in...... Have it your way. Everyone has their own personal preferance. But a blanket statement like "BFG is the best tire there is " is just assinine without knowing what the driver needs and expects for his ride. For a jeep, BFg's may be alright. For a full size truck, I would look elsewhere. I have pulled alot of people out of holes that otherwise thought they were prepared with their shit. Most of them run BFG's. And all we have here in NY is mud. You wanna talk off road performance? Or on road? Sand? Anywhere.... I can tell you this, if there is ever a vehicle in my yard that I own, and it has BFG's on it, it would only be for a joke. Because after that, I would surely be stuck in my yard. BFG's are for Moab. patrolman808
I like my Super Swampers. I've got alot better wear out of them than I'd expected. I am thinking of going to either the Wrangler MT/R's or Super Swamper Radial SSR's in a 37x12.50x17 b/c my 35's look little now. I know a guy with 38" Mud Grappler's and they are the noisiest tires I've heard in a long time. Mine are actually pretty quiet.

THe MTR is a lot more agressive , has better road manners, and wears a lot slower. Hopefully this time you'll read this correctly, for a tire that combines excellent off-road ability, a smooth ride on the highway, and durability the MTR is the best tire there is. bronco91shee
as to the orgianl question. both my dad and i have run bfg a/t for years. we tow our 24' car hauler. and 32' on them mostly yr round. they have beena great tire for us. the terra grapplers i looked at over this past summer, but they were to dam expensive for me. plus i couldnt find anyone who had run them b4, so no good or bad news there. just kinda errie....i ended up w/ goodyear mtrs. i have hauled on them, 35x12.20. they haul good, but i only have a bronco w/ a 24' enclosed behind it. i dont do commerical towing shit, so idk if it would hold up to what u do. but if ur doing that kinda shit, and driving that much, a mud tire wont last anyways. simple fact. mud tires dont last on road, never will. it sound like u just need a good all terrain. but even that....a good heavy duty truck tire(nokian vativa) willbe to stiff to really be any good off road. so i guess u gotta figure out what u really need.....my dad ran 10 ply. they were ok, but not compaered to a normal 6ply tire. just my expericnes...hope it helps peace out
