Help me MOD my Banshee Please...

Hello guys...I am a new member here...I just got my Banshee and I would like to start making my MOD list/plan with your help...I have done some research here but it is still unclear to me as to what path to take. I happen to be a Tucker Rocky Dealer so I have access to some aftermarket parts, but this is the first time I have modded a 2-Stroke engine really...I mostly do cars and streetbikes...I do however understand the general concept of making more power.

I have a hard time believing the Perf. Parts power increase estimations and what other mods are needed to pair up with said parts to make said gains...Ya know what I mean??? I just don't want to waste my money on something that is not gonna compliment everything else I decide to do to the bike..

SO...If you all could give me say...A list in the order of what mods to do to best compliment each one...If there is such an order to do them in...Just keep in mind I don't ride in the sand, and I doubt I will much if at all...Mostly free riding in wheat fields or trails in the mountains at 3-6K feet elev...And prolly do some time on a MX Track...

Here are some things I have in mind to start with...

1. Lightened Flywheel "Via BoonMan" This is a no-brainer...

2. FMF Fatty Pipe set "I know these pipes are very debatable but I can get these at a killer price and they happen to make power down low/Mid and still keep some top end...So I have read/been told????

3. K&N filter Lid replacment & K&N filter units on the carbs

4. A rejet to compliment the above

5. Noss Head & 22 or 21CC Domes??? I dunno exactly what benafit there is here...??? Should I just have "BOONMAN" do his machine work on my heads instead and get the same or better results??? I want to be able to run pump gas...No race fuel hassles...

6. Aftermarket Ignition piece..."Don't recall the MFR."

7. Considering the Trinity 2-into one intake/Carb setup...This is a spendy piece and would prolly come later.

8. And wht sprocketry should I change to for my type of riding??? I recall reading that I should stay with odd number sprocket teeth to get the best wear on my chain and sprocket??? Never heard of this before...

9. I can get the V-Force reeds as well...WHen do I do that???

TIA... :) Cheers...

Looks like you have the right idea on mod selection. They all look great. I would buy all the stuff that requires rejetting at once such as the FMF fattys, K&N, v-force reeds and the single carb ( finances permitting). This will save you time from jetting after each mod. Then I would look at the cool head option with around 20cc domes, no smaller unless you don't mind running race gas (pricey), and some timing advance like an adjustable timing plate. If you do all your riding at 3 to 6k elevations you should be fine with 19cc domes. As for the Lightened flywheel mod, this is great for duning, not so great for dirt allowing a more prominent powerband kick which can cause you to loose traction. A smoother powerband is what you want for MX and trail riding. I would stick with the stock gearing till you get a feel of the mods.

Don't let anyone fool you, the FMF Fatty pipes are a great pipe and can do most everything well. I ran then for almost 2 years and they are great. They're not "cheap" like that, but they're just a extremely great buy, and will compliment all your other mods very well.

*I'd get the pipes, VForce reeds, K&N ProFlow and adjustable stator plate (for the ignition) setup right off the bat.

*If you can still afford it, then go for the head, I'd buy the Noss head over milling the stocker. If your tapped for cash, milling isn't bad, but the extra coolant flow and adjustability is very nice. If your over 3k feet, then I'd go with some 20s.

*Boonman can work his magic at any time, but I'd wait till after the first step, or just send it to him when you put on the stator plate, that way you only have to pull the flywheel once.

*The Trinity 2-into1 carb is awesome, bar none. And you can do that at any time as well. I ran the 2-into-1 carb with Fatties and VForce, damn near same setup as your doing, and it worked awesome. I did the carb well after the pipes and all, so I had a good before and after feel, and it's an awesome setup, well worth the money. Check Ebay for good deals, I saved $200 on mine and it was new still in shrinkwrap.

*After the pipes, reeds and compression, you should pull a 15/41 very nicely and it sets the gears up just right for all around riding and my racing XC.

Later man, let us know if you have other questions. Just in case I didn't say it before, I'm running an almost exact setup to what you wanna buy. The 2-1 carb, coolhead, timing plate (at +7), lightened flywheel, vforce reeds, and i just changed to Paul Turner midrange pipes, but not because I don't like the Fatties, I sold them to be able to pay for some other stuff and wish I hadn't.

If the 3000' is the minimum elevation you ride at, your compression is probably about 105-110 and you would benefit a lot from increasing the compression. With 19cc domes you could still run premium pump gas. Your bottom end (and overall) power would increase substantially.

I run Fatty pipes and 19cc domes and have great bottom end power and plenty of top end.

Fatties are an excellent pipe. One that does anything you ask of it. They provide great low end, and still don't sign off early like others. Another great mid range pipe to look at would be the Paul Turner Mids. Sweet pipe. On the airbox, I would NOT get the K&N lid. I would rather go with a Pro-Flow plate, and get a clamp on filter. Either a UNI -My filter of personal choice), or a K&N. That way, you can run with or without the lid..... I have run a lightened flywheel, and a stock flywheel in both MX and CC/XC racing. I love it. The throttle response is superb. I guess it's all in how you want to ride. BUT, I Have found that the "naysayers" on a lightened flywheel are those that have never tried one. Get ya some pipes, after you mod the airbox. The airbox should be the first mod. :headbang:

What about suspension?

Yea, guess none of us thought of that..... But suspension is very important.

Fair enough guys...

The previous owner of the Banshee did Works front and rears...And a +1 frontend as well...I dunno about the shortened swingarm...I guess if I find it to be a PIA the way it is I will look into that...

So I think the susp. is gonna be OK once I get it dialed in for my own preferance.
