There are a few screws that are hidden behind the stickers on the bottom. I will tell you as an MCP and MCSE it will void any possible warranty you might have or ever get on your xbox. If it is still covered under warranty I would not recommend doing anything with it because if you open it up and something happens to it, no one will service it.

Why do you want to open it up anyway?

Oh yeah... you DONT need Torx screwdrivers or any fancy bullshit. Don't listen to people. You can do it with any simple computer repair kit screwdrivers. You MIGHT need a pair of hemistats for lifting out and putting back in some of the smaller screws. And remember when you are working on your xbox to stay grounded.

Good Luck :)

Back to the question of Why do you want to open it up anyway? Do you have a mod chip to put in it or something? If you don't have experience with Microsoildering techniques or the equipment needed to do so, you will just burn up the chip you need to hook the mod chip to. You can't use a normal gun or iron to do it, they are too big and produce too much heat.

You need a special star shaped screw driver to take the xbox apart. Pick the tool up at walmart. Search google for instructions on dis assembly.

i was thinkin the same thing. about the hemistats. just use a small nail thats been magnetizes by another magnet. works great for little things like those.

tools are Never a bad investment :headbang: , unless you buy the cheap ones that break and round off screws, those suck. :(

youre supposed to stay grounded to prevent a static electric discharge from leaving you and hitting the circuit board, possibly destroying electric circuits. at which point youd be screwed since youve broken open the case to install the new hardware. have a nice day. lol

LOL, if you only took two screws out you are missing a buttload of them. I think there are like 8 or something on the bottom that hold it together. Then there are little snap plastic things that hold the two halves together.

To stay grounded you would normally be touching some part of the case when you are working on it. But thats with normal computers that have a steel/aluminum case. With the Xbox its a good idea to use a grounding strap. You can get one of these at Radioshack, etc...

You are just switching HDD's between two XBoxes, right?

Oh I just remembered! The other screws you are probably missing are the ones that are under the little soft rubber booties on teh bottom of the XBox. Those little pads that keep it from moving around. Take those out and there are screws under those.

Let us know how it goes...
