Crown Vic with police package, How many miles

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I work as a security guard and need a new car. I am thinking of a crown vic with the police package and hidden lights and strobes. They have the oil cooler and stuff so It can idle for long periods. How many miles are these good for before they start going to hell? Thanks for the help

yeah getting a car with police package is overkill.. and then some. Depending on the vehicle, adding an auxiliary oil cooler can be a 30 minute $30 job. Haven't ever heard of it being necessary for a vehicle idling for long periods. The engine fan (clutch or electric) should keep the coolant cool enough that the oil temps aren't climbing to anywhere near dangerous.

I bought an old police cruiser once and I loved that car. Its like having a 4 door sports car with cheep insurance.

The biggest thing to keep in mind is sometimes they really take a pounding and the front suspension needs some attention sometime (most of the time)

Youll also notice traffic seems to go a little slowwer when your around, and people are more willing to wave you through stop signs instead of making you wait. LOL
